Chhattisgarh to Build a New Identity Through Tourism: CM Vishnudev Sai

Raipur, May 28, 2026 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards building a new identity on the national and global tourism map, with the state focusing on promoting tourism as an industry and attracting large-scale investment in the hospitality sector.

The Chief Minister said that the state’s real beauty and cultural richness should be showcased to the world. He made these remarks while attending a high-level meeting at his official residence office in Raipur regarding the promotion and expansion of tourism facilities and investment opportunities in the hospitality sector. Representatives of the prestigious Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and senior government officials were present in the meeting.

Sai said that Chhattisgarh is a land of immense natural heritage, from north to south, enriched with rivers, hills, dense forests, waterfalls, vibrant tribal culture, and traditional heritage that together give the state a unique identity.

He stated that the government’s objective is to introduce the world to the state’s natural beauty, cultural diversity, and rich traditions. He highlighted that granting industry status to tourism has significantly increased investment opportunities in the hospitality sector, and with improved infrastructure, transportation, and accommodation facilities, Chhattisgarh can emerge as an attractive tourist destination.

The Chief Minister also noted that the state has been receiving continuous investment proposals, and IHCL has expressed interest in investing in Chhattisgarh, which he said would be highly significant for the state’s tourism sector. He added that such investments would strengthen tourism infrastructure and create new employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth.

During the meeting, representatives of IHCL shared their investment proposal details and informed that the company is planning to invest more than ₹500 crore in the hospitality sector in Chhattisgarh, which will be taken forward soon. They said this investment would boost tourism infrastructure and generate employment opportunities in the state.

Finance Minister OP Choudhary said that the state government has created an investor-friendly environment and simplified approval processes to ensure transparency and speed in clearances.

It was also highlighted in the meeting that after tourism was granted industry status, investment opportunities in the hospitality sector have expanded significantly. The government is focusing on modern infrastructure development, high-quality facilities, and investor-friendly policies to boost tourism growth. Chhattisgarh’s favorable climate, natural resources, and policy support are seen as strong foundations for tourism development.

Officials from the Industries Department provided detailed information about the state’s investment promotion policy and incentives. They stated that investors investing more than ₹500 crore or generating employment for over 1,000 people would be eligible for additional benefits under the “Be-Spoke Policy.” Special emphasis is also being given to improving infrastructure, road connectivity, accommodation facilities, and tourist services.

The meeting was attended by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Neelu Sharma, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Subodh Kumar Singh, Finance Secretary Dr. Rohit Yadav, Investment Commissioner Ritu Sen, Industries Secretary Rajat Kumar, Tourism Secretary Dr. S. Bharati Dasan, along with other senior officials.
