Electricity Transmission and Distribution Network Strengthened Under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s Leadership

444 Substations of 33 KV and 59 GSS of 400, 220 and 132 KV Established

7,376 MW Electricity Being Generated from Solar Power Plants

Consumer Complaints Being Resolved Promptly with Significant Improvement in Power Supply

Around 41,000 Fewer Complaints Compared to April-May Last Year

Jaipur, May 2026: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government’s improved management and long-term policy decisions have significantly strengthened Rajasthan’s electricity transmission and distribution network. As a result, uninterrupted and adequate power supply is being ensured for domestic consumers, farmers and industries even during the peak summer season.

At the same time, continuous monitoring and innovative measures by the Jaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer power distribution companies have led to a noticeable decline in consumer complaints.

The state government is working with commitment to ensure daytime electricity supply to farmers by 2027. For this purpose, the electricity transmission system is being strengthened across the state.

During the present tenure of the state government, 444 substations of 33 KV capacity have been established across Rajasthan, while work on 211 additional substations is currently underway. Similarly, 59 Grid Substations (GSS) of 400 KV, 220 KV and 132 KV capacity have been established, while construction of 145 more GSS is in progress.

In addition, a large network of solar energy plants, including Kusum-A, Kusum-C and rooftop solar systems, is generating nearly 7,376 MW of electricity. Coal-based thermal projects are also contributing an installed power generation capacity of 7,830 MW.

To tackle the possibility of tripping and faults caused by extreme temperatures and to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers, power distribution companies have been functioning in alert mode under a detailed action plan.

Before the onset of summer, the DISCOMs carried out major maintenance and infrastructure strengthening works, including enhancement of transformer capacity by 13,473 MVA, bifurcation of 4,815 feeders of 11 KV and 33 KV, expansion of nearly 5,000 additional circuit lines and maintenance of 3,682 grid substations.

To ensure quick redressal of consumer grievances, electricity distribution corporations have developed an effective complaint resolution mechanism. Under this system, toll-free call centres, customer service centres, central control rooms and around 1,129 fault rectification teams are taking rapid action on consumer complaints and providing timely relief.

As a result, there has been a significant reduction in complaints and quicker disposal of issues. Between April 1 and May 20, 2025, Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur DISCOMs recorded around 3.52 lakh “no current” complaints. During the same period in 2026, the number declined by nearly 41,000 to around 3.11 lakh complaints, indicating a substantial improvement in electricity supply.

Surplus Power Available in the State

On May 1, the state’s electricity demand stood at 2,860 lakh units, which increased to 3,850 lakh units due to the ongoing heatwave. The highest electricity demand this summer was recorded on May 27 at around 10:15 p.m., reaching 17,333 MW, and it was met without any power cuts.

The state has surplus electricity availability during daytime hours. On May 21, against a demand of 15,563 MW, availability stood at 18,751 MW. Similarly, on May 22, availability was 17,497 MW against a demand of 15,633 MW, while on May 23, power availability was 20,263 MW against a demand of 16,611 MW.

Likewise, on May 24, electricity availability was 19,189 MW against a demand of 15,500 MW; on May 25, availability stood at 21,285 MW against 15,948 MW demand; on May 26, 20,898 MW was available against 16,516 MW demand; and on May 27, availability reached 21,542 MW against a demand of 16,683 MW.

However, due to the absence of solar generation during night hours, availability reduces to around 16,500 MW. In cases where demand exceeds supply, the shortfall is managed through power purchases from the energy exchange market.

Special Focus on Clean and Secure Energy

As per the Chief Minister’s directives, regular maintenance of power generation units and transmission systems is being ensured. The government is also placing special emphasis on solar and wind energy projects, pumped storage systems, gas and hydroelectric projects, and battery energy storage systems to help Rajasthan achieve new milestones in clean and secure energy.

JVVNL’s Innovation for “Electricity Safety”

To ensure uninterrupted and sufficient electricity supply during the severe summer season, DISCOMs are working with full commitment. In this direction, Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) has introduced an innovative initiative.

Under this programme, junior engineers, assistant engineers and executive engineers visit field locations between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. during peak hours. They inspect heavily loaded GSS, feeders, transformers and pillar boxes and carry out load balancing work.

This initiative is helping in the rapid resolution of tripping and no-current complaints while also addressing voltage fluctuation issues effectively.
