Lucknow, June 2026 : In Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government is strengthening not only education but also the health and nutrition of children. Under the PM Poshan Scheme, balanced, nutritious and quality meals are being provided to lakhs of students studying in Classes 1 to 8 in government, parishadiya and aided schools.
By ensuring adequate availability of energy, protein and other essential nutrients in children’s meals, the government is supporting their physical, mental and intellectual development. At the same time, by providing better nutrition, the Yogi government is further strengthening its fight against malnutrition.
The foundation of a developed and self-reliant Uttar Pradesh rests on healthy, educated and capable children. In line with this vision, the Yogi government is making the PM Poshan Scheme in schools much more than a mid-day meal programme and turning it into an effective medium for children’s health, nutritional security and overall development.
Nutritious meals are providing children with the necessary energy, protein and other nutrients, leading to positive improvements in their learning ability, school attendance and academic performance.
By delivering balanced and quality meals to lakhs of children, the government is not only preparing a healthy and confident new generation but also strengthening its resolve for a malnutrition-free Uttar Pradesh.
Under the PM Poshan Scheme, children at the primary level are being provided a minimum of 450 calories of energy and 12 grams of protein every day. Similarly, students at the upper primary level are being ensured 700 calories of energy and 20 grams of protein daily. These nutrition standards are playing an important role in improving children’s physical development, immunity, mental concentration and learning ability.
To make children’s meals more balanced and nutritious, the Yogi government is including a variety of food items. On different days of the week, children are being provided pulses, green vegetables, soybean-based meals, milk and seasonal fruits. This ensures that children regularly receive carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, iron and other essential micronutrients. This arrangement is not only meeting their nutritional requirements but is also accelerating their overall development.
The PM Poshan Scheme being implemented in the state is no longer just a programme for providing meals; it is emerging as an effective medium for promoting children’s health and eliminating malnutrition. Better nutrition is bringing positive changes in children’s health, attendance and academic performance.
By integrating education and nutrition, the Yogi government is continuously working towards building a healthy, capable and confident new generation. By providing nutritious meals to lakhs of children, the government is also continuously strengthening its commitment to a malnutrition-free Uttar Pradesh.
