Mosquitoes brought disease and the mafia brought unemployment, but the Double Engine Government solved both problems: CM
Kushinagar, June 2026 : From the land of Kushinagar, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, speaking on the issue of development versus anarchy said, “During the tenure of previous governments, Uttar Pradesh was identified with the manufacture of country-made pistols and bombs, whereas today the same Uttar Pradesh is manufacturing BrahMos missiles for the security of the nation. Previous governments produced country-made pistols and bombs to loot innocent people and traders. They compromised the safety of daughters, but we have reformed these miscreants. Those who did not reform, those who did not listen to words, ultimately responded to bullets.”
Addressing a gathering on Tuesday during the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of 278 development projects worth ₹424+ crore in Kushinagar, the Chief Minister stated, the distorted mindset of previous governments had given Kushinagar disease, hunger and unemployment. However, the Double Engine Government has effectively struck against both encephalitis and the mafia, creating a new environment of development, security and employment. Kushinagar is no longer a symbol of backwardness but is emerging as a symbol of a new Uttar Pradesh moving ahead at bullet speed.
He said, “Kushinagar, the sacred land associated with Lord Ram’s son Kush, Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir, is today touching new heights of development, whereas 9-10 years ago the district was struggling with an identity crisis, encephalitis, mafia rule, hunger, unemployment and disorder. Mining mafia operated with impunity, farmers were exploited, they did not receive fair prices for their produce, health and education facilities were in poor condition, and reports frequently emerged of deaths due to hunger among members of the Musahar community in the Fazilnagar and Kasaya areas.”
CM added, in 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country chose a new path, and through the efforts of the Double Engine Government, the picture of Kushinagar changed. Today, nearly 90 thousand poor people in the district have received housing, more than 3.14 lakh families have received toilets, free ration, health security under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and numerous other public welfare benefits. Earlier, riots, crime and anarchy had become the identity of the state, whereas today security, development and welfare of the poor have become its new identity. Without stopping, without wavering and without bowing, the government is working to ensure that the benefits of schemes reach the last person in society.
The Chief Minister said, in a district where one could not even imagine a medical college, university or airport, today it has its own medical college, international airport and Agricultural and Technology University. The Agricultural University will begin operations from this academic session, and admissions of students will commence.
He stated, “Farmers are now receiving ₹400 per quintal for sugarcane, compared to ₹315 earlier, and timely payment is also being ensured. The disease of encephalitis has almost been eliminated, just as mafia rule has been eliminated from Uttar Pradesh. Mosquitoes brought disease and the mafia brought unemployment, but the Double Engine Government has solved both problems.”
CM also added that today, daughters and youth of Kushinagar are being selected for the police force and various government jobs, while also benefiting from new employment opportunities created through investment. Giving credit to the public representatives elected by the people, he said that earlier Tamkuhi Raj and Fazilnagar were associated not with development but with neglect and ridicule, whereas today development projects are being implemented on the ground through the efforts of MLAs and MPs.
He continues by saying, “A proposal has been sent to rename Fazilnagar as Pawagarh, which will connect the area with the legacy of Lord Mahavir and provide it with global recognition. Good public representatives bring development, security, employment and prosperity, and the Double Engine Government is continuously working with the resolve to provide every farmer with a fair price, every youth with opportunities, every daughter with security and every family with a better quality of life.”
The Chief Minister said, the grand temple of Shri Ram in Ayodhya is a symbol of the victory of centuries of struggle, faith and determination. After the temple at Shri Ram’s birthplace was demolished by a foreign invader 498 years ago, generations continued to struggle for its reconstruction. However, the construction of the Ram Mandir gained real momentum during the tenure of the BJP’s Double Engine Government.
He said, Congress could have built the Ram Mandir after Independence, but it did not allow it to happen. The Samajwadi Party has openly been anti-Ram. These people continuously created obstacles, but our resolve remained unshaken. Today, the grand temple of Shri Ram stands in Ayodhya, and modern Ayodhya, with its splendour, development and spiritual grandeur, evokes the experience of the Treta Yuga. The historic moment of the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was connected with the emotions of crores of devotees, and on that occasion, tears of joy were visible in people’s eyes.
The Chief Minister stated, “In a democracy, the power of a single vote is visible from Ayodhya to Lucknow and Delhi. It was through the strength of this mandate that the grand Ram Mandir was built in Ayodhya, Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh is becoming a centre for the manufacture of BrahMos missiles. When India’s brave soldiers launch a BrahMos missile at the enemy, Pakistan starts shouting ‘Save us, save us’. The people of Kushinagar no longer need to look back on the path of development because the Double Engine Government will not allow any shortage of funds for development and will meet every requirement while accounting for every rupee spent.”
He informed, Kushinagar was never backward. Rather, the distorted policies of previous governments pushed it into crises of disease, hunger and unemployment. Today, the district is moving ahead at bullet speed through development, education, healthcare, employment and modern infrastructure.
On this occasion, Kushinagar In-Charge Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh, Deoria MP Shashank Mani, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, Tamkuhi Raj MLA Dr Asim Kumar, Fazilnagar MLA Surendra Kumar Kushwaha, District Panchayat Chairperson Savitri Jaiswal, BJP District President Durgesh Rai and other distinguished dignitaries were present.
