Submit Proposal for Advanced Systems at Koradi Lake Sewage Treatment Plant: Minister Pankaja Munde

Mumbai, June 2026 : Environment and Climate Change Minister Pankaja Munde has directed officials to submit a proposal for upgrading the machinery at the sewage treatment plants (STPs) serving Koradi Lake so that the lake water remains clean and suitable for use.

A review meeting on the cleaning and rejuvenation of Koradi Lake was held in Minister Pankaja Munde’s office. The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Environment Department Secretary Jayashree Bhoj, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Member Secretary Dr. Rahul Rekhawar, and other officials of the Environment Department.

There are seven sewage treatment plants operating in the Koradi area for water purification. However, as these plants are old, their machinery has also become outdated and requires modernization.

During the meeting, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule requested the Environment Department’s support in establishing new state-of-the-art systems at these facilities. In response, Minister Pankaja Munde instructed officials to prepare and submit a detailed proposal for the upgrade.

She further stated that a presentation on the proposal would be conducted soon. After examining the project and assessing funding options, the government would explore ways to allocate resources for the installation of advanced machinery and provide the necessary support to modernize the sewage treatment infrastructure at Koradi Lake.

The initiative is aimed at improving water quality, enhancing environmental sustainability, and supporting the long-term restoration and conservation of Koradi Lake.
