Tradition Meets Technology: Farmer Bharat Becomes a Model of Progressive Agriculture

Farmer Bharat Sets an Example of Progressive Farming

Writes a New Success Story Through Diversified Farming, Drip Irrigation, and Advanced Banana Cultivation on 23 Acres

Raipur, June 2026 : Farmer Bharat Kshetrapal of Mopka village in Bilaspur district is today counted among the progressive farmers who have transformed agriculture into a profitable and sustainable enterprise through experience, innovation, and hard work. With nearly 30 to 35 years of farming experience, he has successfully developed his 23-acre landholding into a model of diversified and modern agriculture.

His dedication to farming and farsighted approach have earned him a distinct identity among farmers in the region. Over the years, he has gained expertise in cultivating a variety of crops. Elephant Foot Yam (Jimikand) and turmeric are his major crops, in which he has achieved remarkable success. Alongside these crops, he has also adopted advanced banana cultivation and achieved impressive results.

Currently, Mr. Kshetrapal is cultivating the G-9 variety of banana on 8 acres of land. The second banana crop in his fields is growing successfully, reflecting his scientific farming methods and effective farm management skills. His willingness to adopt modern agricultural technologies has significantly improved both productivity and crop quality.

Mr. Kshetrapal uses a drip irrigation system in his fields. This technology not only conserves water but also ensures that crops receive moisture according to their requirements. As a result, production costs are reduced while crop quality improves. Drip irrigation is also playing an important role in water conservation and environmental sustainability.

His achievements in advanced farming have earned him recognition at the national level. In 2006 and 2011, he was honoured with the prestigious “Krishi Ratna” Award by the Government of India. These awards stand as a testament to his dedication, innovation, and outstanding contribution to the field of agriculture.

Mr. Kshetrapal is also a well-informed and market-aware farmer. He sells his produce through agricultural markets (mandis), ensuring that he receives fair prices and maintains a stable income. His understanding of market dynamics, combined with successful farming practices, has strengthened his economic position.

The success of progressive farmer Bharat Kshetrapal conveys a powerful message: when traditional agricultural knowledge is combined with modern technologies, farming can become more profitable, sustainable, and prosperous. His accomplishments are not only a source of pride for his family but also an inspiration for farmers across the region.

Today, he stands as a living example of how hard work, experience, innovation, and a scientific approach can help farmers achieve new heights in agriculture.
