SDRF Demonstrates Disaster Response Skills as NCC Cadets Receive Hands-on Training in Emergency Management
Practical Lessons on First Aid During Heart Attacks, Floods and Road Accidents
Jaipur, June 2026 : Acting on the directives of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) organised a special public awareness programme, live rescue demonstrations and an exhibition of modern disaster relief equipment on Monday at the NCC Complex on JLN Marg, Gandhi Nagar, as part of its seven-day Yuva Aapda Mitra (Young Disaster Friend) training programme.
The initiative aims to equip young people with knowledge and practical skills related to disaster management, rescue operations and emergency response.
A total of 57 volunteers from the 1 Rajasthan Armed Squadron NCC — including six female and 51 male cadets — participated in the programme. The cadets are currently undergoing the week-long disaster management training being conducted by the SDRF.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Director General of Police (RAC and SDRF) Rupinder Singh highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness, stating that trained youth can serve as the first line of response during emergencies and disasters.
Deputy Director General of NCC, Air Commodore Sampat Kumar Anand, elaborated on the crucial role played by NCC cadets during disasters and emphasized their social responsibility in assisting affected communities during crises.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Inspector General of Police (RAC and SDRF) Parm Jyoti, who encouraged the participants to use the skills gained during the training in the service and safety of society.
Rope Rescue Demonstration Draws Attention
One of the major attractions of the event was a live rope rescue demonstration by SDRF experts. The rescue team showcased techniques used to safely evacuate people trapped at heights, provide relief to accident victims and carry out rescue operations during various disasters.
The professionalism, coordination and efficiency displayed by the SDRF personnel left NCC cadets and officials highly impressed.
Training on Handling Emergencies
The awareness session included practical guidance on responding to emergencies such as heart attacks, road accidents, floods and gas cylinder fires. Participants were trained in providing first aid and immediate assistance before professional rescue teams arrive at the scene.
The programme emphasized the critical role that ordinary citizens can play in saving lives during the crucial initial moments of an emergency.
Modern Rescue Equipment on Display
An exhibition of advanced rescue and disaster management equipment used by the SDRF was also organised. Cadets were briefed about the functioning, utility and role of these tools in emergency response and disaster relief operations.
SDRF Commandant Rajendra Singh Sisodia highlighted the force’s organisational structure, operational methods and significant contributions to disaster management across Rajasthan. He concluded the programme by thanking all officers, trainers and NCC cadets for their participation.
The event was attended by Group Commander Colonel Suresh Sindhu (Sena Medal), Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Parminder Kaur, NCC officers and personnel, 326 cadets undergoing annual training, and 82 officers and personnel from six units participating in the Jaipur Group Camp.
