Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu Seeks Greater Banking Support, Announces Rs 3,125 Crore Aid for Farmers

Amaravati, June 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday called upon banks to play a more proactive role in supporting economic growth and development across the state, emphasizing the importance of credit flow to key sectors such as agriculture, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), self-help groups, and tenant farmers.

The Chief Minister made the appeal while chairing the 235th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting at the State Secretariat. The meeting focused on reviewing credit disbursement during the previous financial year and discussing the Annual Credit Plan for 2026-27.

During the review, bankers informed the Chief Minister that loans amounting to Rs 3.86 lakh crore were extended to the agriculture sector during 2025-26. The MSME sector received credit worth Rs 1.17 lakh crore, while lending to priority sectors reached an impressive Rs 5.19 lakh crore.

Banking officials highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s strong credit performance, noting that credit disbursement in the state stands at 137 per cent higher than the average levels recorded in other southern states. The figures were cited as evidence of robust financial activity and expanding economic opportunities across Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister Naidu stressed the need for continued cooperation between the government and financial institutions to ensure that credit reaches all eligible beneficiaries, particularly farmers, entrepreneurs, and rural communities. He urged banks to actively support productive sectors that contribute to employment generation and economic growth.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary K. Sai Prasad, Union Bank of India Managing Director and CEO Ashish Pande, Union Finance Ministry Director Neelam Agarwal, RBI Regional Director A.O. Basheer, NABARD General Manager K.V.S. Prasad, and representatives from various banking institutions.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is set to launch another major initiative aimed at supporting the farming community. On Saturday, he will release Rs 3,125.47 crore under the Annadata Sukhibhava–PM Kisan scheme from Linganguntla village in Chilakaluripet Mandal of Palnadu district.

The financial assistance will benefit 46.85 lakh farmers across the state, including 45.69 lakh land-owning farmer families and more than 1.16 lakh families cultivating land under the Recognition of Forest Rights (RoFR) Act.

The scheme forms a key part of the state government’s flagship Super Six welfare promises. Under the programme, every eligible farmer family receives annual financial assistance of Rs 20,000. Of this amount, the Andhra Pradesh Government contributes Rs 14,000, while the Central Government provides Rs 6,000 through the PM-Kisan scheme.

For the first instalment of the current financial year, the state government will credit Rs 5,000 per farmer family, while the Centre will contribute Rs 2,000 under PM-Kisan, resulting in a total payment of Rs 7,000 being directly transferred into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Last year, the government disbursed Rs 8,985.41 crore under the scheme, including Rs 6,560.18 crore from the state government and Rs 2,425.23 crore from the Centre. The initiative is aimed at strengthening farm incomes, reducing financial stress on cultivators, and promoting agricultural growth across Andhra Pradesh.
