International Group Art Exhibition ‘Histories Unbound’ to be Held at P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy

Mumbai, June 2026 : An international group art exhibition titled “Histories Unbound: Dialogues Across Time” is being organized at the P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, Mumbai. Presented in collaboration with Arts University Plymouth, the exhibition will showcase works by renowned artists Barbara Rachko, Jenny Pettit, Rajul Shah, Susan Fraser-Hughes, Sabine Jacquard, and Danilo Preto. The inaugural ceremony will be held on June 18 at 6:00 p.m.

The two-day exhibition offers an in-depth exploration of the complex relationships between history, memory, identity, and imagination. Rather than viewing history as a static record of the past, the exhibition is based on the idea that history is an evolving dialogue, constantly reinterpreted and understood through diverse perspectives.

Through artworks created across a variety of artistic mediums, visitors will have an opportunity to reflect on the connections between the past, present, and future from fresh and thought-provoking viewpoints. The exhibition is intellectually centered around a fundamental question: “Can the future be liberated from the weight of history, or does every new beginning emerge from history’s enduring presence?”

By bringing together artists from different cultural and historical backgrounds, the exhibition seeks to encourage global artistic dialogue and foster an exchange of ideas across geographical and temporal boundaries. It aims to create a platform where new possibilities can emerge through the intersection of art, history, and human experience.

The exhibition is expected to serve as an important forum for exploring how contemporary artists engage with historical narratives, personal memories, and collective identities, while offering audiences an opportunity to participate in a broader conversation about the forces that shape societies and cultures.

The organizers have invited art enthusiasts, scholars, students, and members of the media to attend both the exhibition and the inaugural event and experience this unique international artistic exchange.
