CM Dr. Yadav and Union Minister Manohar Lal Review Ghat Construction Works for Simhastha 2028

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal visited the newly developed Triveni Ghat to review the progress of the 29.15-km-long ghat construction project being undertaken at a cost of ₹778 crore to facilitate devotees during Simhastha 2028.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal reviewed the progress of the construction works and directed officials to ensure the highest standards of quality and adherence to timelines. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the State Government is continuously working to make Simhastha 2028 grand, divine, and well-organised so that devotees arriving from across India and abroad experience the magnificence of Sanatan culture.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajora provided a detailed presentation on the project. He informed that the 29.15-km-long new ghats are being constructed at a cost of ₹778 crore. More than 150 access points have been identified to facilitate the movement of pilgrims. Construction of 18.20 km of retaining walls has been completed, while 7 km of the new ghat construction work has already been finished. The remaining work is progressing rapidly.

Chief Minister and Union Minister Inspect Kanh Diversion Closed Duct Project

Reviewed Construction Quality by Descending into the Tunnel

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal also inspected the Kanh Diversion Closed Duct Project. They descended into the tunnel section of the project to personally assess the quality and progress of construction works. At Shaft No. 2 near Chintaman Jawasiya village, they reviewed Phase-III works in detail.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajora briefed the dignitaries on the project and provided detailed information on the technical aspects related to tunnel access, operation and maintenance.

The primary objective of the project is to prevent polluted water from the Kanh River from entering the major ghats and pilgrimage sites along the Shipra River within the city, thereby ensuring that the Shipra remains clean and sacred.

A barrage is being constructed on the Kanh River at Jamalpura village in Ujjain district. The polluted water will be diverted through a closed duct system and discharged 30.15 km downstream of the Gambhir Dam.

The project is being implemented at a cost of ₹919.94 crore. Its total length is 30.15 km, comprising 18.15 km of cut-and-cover duct and 12 km of tunnel. Four shafts have been constructed along the tunnel section to facilitate access, cleaning, and maintenance. The D-shaped duct is designed to carry a maximum discharge of 40 cusecs of polluted water. The project has been designed keeping in view population growth over the next 25 years. Upon completion, provisions have been made for operation and maintenance for the subsequent 15 years. At present, construction of the barrage is underway, while the head regulator has already been completed. Of the total 18.15 km cut-and-cover section, lying of precast segments has been completed over 4.50 km, with the remaining work in progress. Precast segments suitable for installation have already been prepared for 10.30 km of the 18.15 km stretch. Construction of all four shafts for the tunnel section has been completed. Of the total 12 km tunnel length, excavation work over 8.15 km has been completed, while the remaining excavation is progressing steadily.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and Union MinisterShri Manaohar Lal held detailed discussions with officials associated with the project and instructed them to ensure both quality and timely completion of the works.

Mayor Shri Mukesh Tatwal, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Smt. Kalavati Yadav, Member of Parliament Shri Anil Firojiya, MLA Shri Anil Jain Kalukheda, Ujjain Development Authority Chairman Shri Ravi Solanki, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Dubey, Divisional Commissioner Shri Ashish Singh, ADG Shri Rakesh Gupta, Collector Shri Roshan Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police Shri Pradeep Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Shri Abhilash Mishra, ADM Shri Atyendra Singh Gurjar and other administrative officials were present on the occasion.
