Rajasthan’s ‘Lakhpati Didis’: A Symbol of Self-Reliant Rural Women Power
Jaipur, January 2026 : Rural women of Rajasthan have carved out a new and inspiring identity in the direction of self-reliance and women empowerment. By associating with the Rajasthan Rural Livelihood Development Council (Rajeevika), women such as Santosh Kumari, Gayatri Nanoma, Sarita Kanwar, and Parvati Maida have overcome limited resources and economic challenges to establish themselves as successful ‘Lakhpati Didis’.
Santosh Kumari from Jhalawar district has built a strong foundation of self-reliance by earning an annual income of Rs 10.40 lakh through cloth trading, animal husbandry, and group management. Gayatri Nanoma from Dungarpur district earns approximately Rs 5.71 lakh annually through agriculture and livestock-based activities. From Rajsamand district, Sarita Kanwar has scripted a new chapter in rural women entrepreneurship by generating an annual income of over Rs 10 lakh through tailoring, dairy, and household product enterprises. Similarly, Parvati Maida from Banswara district took a loan through a self-help group to start her business and has today strengthened her financial position.
The success of these women goes beyond personal achievement. Along with providing financial security to their families, they have also created employment opportunities, offered guidance, and instilled confidence among other women in their villages. Through collective efforts, training, and sustained hard work, they have developed stable and sustainable livelihood models.
In recognition of their remarkable achievements, the Lakhpati Didis from the district will participate in the 77th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Their journey presents a powerful picture of women power, empowerment, and an Atmanirbhar Bharat, serving as an inspiration not only for Rajasthan but for the entire nation.
