WPL 2026 Eliminator: Delhi Capitals Beat Gujarat Giants by 7 Wickets, Storm into Fourth Straight Final
Vadodara, Feb 2026 : Delhi Capitals continued their remarkable consistency in the Women’s Premier League as they registered a commanding 7-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator at the BCA Stadium on Tuesday, sealing their place in the WPL 2026 final. With this win, the Capitals have reached the summit clash for the fourth consecutive season, where they will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on February 5.
Delhi Capitals, despite their regular appearances in the final, are still chasing their maiden WPL title. They finished runners-up in the inaugural 2023 season after losing to Mumbai Indians, suffered another final defeat to RCB in 2024, and once again fell short against Mumbai Indians in the 2025 title clash. Tuesday’s emphatic Eliminator win keeps their championship hopes alive yet again.
Gujarat Giants Innings – 168/7 (20 overs)
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Gujarat Giants posted a competitive total of 168 for 7. However, their innings was a tale of recovery after early damage. The Giants were reduced to 59 for 4, struggling to build momentum as Delhi’s bowlers kept tight lines and struck at crucial moments.
Opener Beth Mooney played the anchor’s role to perfection, holding the innings together under pressure. She found able support from Georgia Wareham, with the pair stitching together a vital 61-run partnership for the fifth wicket, which revived Gujarat’s hopes of posting a defendable score. Wareham scored a brisk 35 off 25 balls, injecting urgency into the innings before being dismissed.
Mooney, however, remained unbeaten, compiling a composed 62 off 51 balls, decorated with six boundaries. Her knock ensured the Giants crossed the 160-run mark. Kashvee Gautam added late impetus with a quick 18 off 10 balls, including three fours.
For Delhi Capitals, Chinelle Henry was the standout bowler, returning figures of 3 for 35. Nandini Sharma picked up two wickets, while Minnu Mani chipped in with one, keeping Gujarat from accelerating further in the death overs.
Delhi Capitals Chase – 169/3 (15.4 overs)
Chasing 169, Delhi Capitals came out with intent and confidence. Openers Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma gave the chase a flying start, adding 89 runs in just 7.1 overs and effectively taking the game away from Gujarat Giants early.
Lizelle Lee was in imperious touch, smashing 43 off 24 balls with eight fours and one six, while Shafali Verma matched her aggression, scoring 31 off 21 balls with seven boundaries. Though both openers fell by the time the score reached 92, the foundation had already been laid.
Captain Jemimah Rodrigues then took charge, producing a match-winning knock of 41 off 23 balls, which included one six and four fours. She shared a decisive 68-run partnership with Laura Wolvaardt for the third wicket. Wolvaardt played the perfect supporting role, remaining unbeaten on 32 off 24 balls with three boundaries, as Delhi crossed the finish line with ease in 15.4 overs.
For Gujarat Giants, Georgia Wareham was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad claimed one, but the target proved too small against Delhi’s dominant batting display.
With momentum firmly on their side, Delhi Capitals now head into the final determined to finally lift the WPL trophy.
