Basic Mountaineering Course Participants Awarded Certificates

Aizawl, February 2026 : Today, certificates were awarded to participants of the Basic Mountaineering Course at the Directorate of Sports & Youth Services. The certificates were presented by Mr. H. Lalhmingthanga, Director, Sports & Youth Services, based on the report of Mr. Moses Lalthanpuia, State Adventure Organizer. Mr. Chuauhnuna, Director, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department, congratulated the participants on successful completion. The certificates were jointly awarded by the Director, Sports & Youth Services and the Director, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department.

A total of 5 participants from the Sports & Youth Services Department and the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department attended the Basic Mountaineering Course from 17th October to 13th November 2025 (28 days) at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh. All participants performed exceptionally well, earning Grade-A, and have been recommended for Advanced Course training.

Participants trained:

  1. Mr. Francis H. Lallungmuana – MSU Kulva Adventure Club, Darlawng/Chanmari West
  2. Mr. Lalrosang – Lastminute Youth Adventure Club, Teikhang/Mission Veng
  3. Mr. R. Lalmuanawma – Kulikawn Youth Adventure Club, Kulikawn
  4. Mr. MS Dawngzuala – Quick Response Team, Saitual
  5. Mr. Lalpiangruala – Quick Response Team, Kolasib

Mountaineering techniques covered during training included:

  • Endurance Training
  • Trekking
  • Rock Climbing
  • Ice Craft Training
  • Camping and Survival
  • Sports Climbing
  • Stream/River Crossing
  • Basic Crevasse Rescue

The training aimed to enhance adventure skills, survival knowledge, and mountaineering techniques across Mizoram under the joint guidance of the Sports & Youth Services Department and Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department.
