To mark the auspicious 58th AWWA Day, a Veer Nari meet was held at the 3 EME Centre in Bairagarh under the auspices of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps. Smt. Nandita Singh, Zonal President of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps AWWA, engaged with and honored the “Veer Naris” and Next of Kin (NOKs) from the Bhopal District. She expressed deep gratitude for the ultimate sacrifices made by the Fallen Heroes and reaffirmed the commitment to provide all possible support to the Veer Naris, emphasizing that it is both a “Duty” and a “Dharma.”
This event marked the beginning of the 58th AWWA Week. The Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), established in 1966, is dedicated to the welfare of Veer Naris, as well as the families of serving and retired soldiers of the Indian Army. AWWA’s primary focus is on supporting war widows, known as “Veer Naris.” The association provides essential emotional and moral support to help them cope with their loss while addressing any concerns they may have. AWWA plays a vital role in ensuring that army widows never feel abandoned at any stage of their lives.
The event was graced by Shri RN Prasad and Mrs Kusum Prasad, parents of Late Maj Ajay Kumar (SM), Smt Shanti Devi wife of Havildar (Late) Chandra Bhushan Awasthi, Smt Gunmala Devi wife of Naik (Late) Dinesh Chandra, Smt Laxmi Bai wife of Signalman (Late) Ramesh Kumar and Smt Savita Devi wife of Craftsman (Late) Ram Swaroop Sharma.
The Veteran Cell of HQ Pashchim-Madhya Bharat Sub Area created a platform for the “Veer Naris” to voice their concerns and seek resolution of their issues. An awareness and information session was held to offer them first-hand knowledge about the various welfare schemes and facilities available through the Indian Army and the Central Government.
