Two-Day Capacity Building & Leadership Training Held at Ramadevi Women’s University

Feb 2026 : A two-day training programme on “Capacity Building & Leadership for Persons with Blindness and Low Vision” was successfully conducted at Ramadevi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar, organised by BLIND PEOPLES ASSOCIATION, in colabiration with Ravenshaw bhinna khyma student union & Ramadevi Womens University this program was supported by Department of Social Security &Empowerment of PWDs Govt of Odisha, with the aim of empowering persons with visual impairment through knowledge, skills, and leadership development.

The programme featured expert sessions by resource persons from the Blind People’s Association (BPA), including Dr. Bhushan Punani, who spoke on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, creating awareness on legal rights and entitlements. Dr. Bharatkumar Joshi addressed Time Management and Essential Skills from Campus to Corporate, while Dr. Dharmendra Jena conducted an interactive session on Effective Communication Skills.

A First Aid training session was conducted by Dr. Bikash Prasad, Master Trainer, Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha, coordinated by the Child & Women Development Society (CWDS).

Special thanks were extended to Dr. Chandi Charan Rath, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Ramadevi Women’s University, for providing the venue. The programme was coordinated by Sri Sanyasai Behera, Deputy Secretary, SSEPD Department, and Major Dr. Kalpana Das, Chairman, CWDS.

The training programme marked a meaningful step towards enhancing leadership, self-confidence, and employability skills among persons with blindness and low vision.
