Uttarakhand CM Dhami Approves 10% Job Quota for State Agitators.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his satisfaction with the approval of a bill providing a 10% reservation in government jobs for state agitators. The bill, which was passed in the Assembly and subsequently sent to the Governor, Lt Gen Retd Gurmeet Singh, has now received his consent. The Chief Minister extended his gratitude to the Governor for approving the bill, which fulfills a longstanding demand of the state agitators.
CM Dhami emphasized that the government deeply values the struggle and sacrifice of the state agitators, who have always been held in high esteem. He reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of state agitators and their families. In addition to the job reservation, the Chief Minister announced an increase in pensions for state agitators and the extension of pension benefits to their dependents after their passing. These measures, he stated, are part of the government’s broader goal to make Uttarakhand the “dream state” envisioned by the agitators.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 26 development projects worth Rs 3,916.85 lakh at a program held at Government College Amodi, Champawat, ahead of Raksha Bandhan. The inaugurated projects include 13 schemes valued at Rs 2510.95 lakh, while the foundation stones were laid for 13 additional schemes worth Rs 1465.90 lakh. These initiatives reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to boost development in the region.
During the event, a large number of women tied Raksha Sutra (sacred threads) on the Chief Minister’s wrist, wishing him a long life. CM Dhami also made several key announcements, including flood protection measures in the Belkhet area, protective works for Government College Amodi, and the construction of a suspension bridge in Belkhet. Additionally, he announced the naming of the under-construction stadium in Champawat after the late Kailash Gahtori and the Kharkodi road in Gram Panchayat Dudhauli after martyred commando Naveen Singh Bisht of the Indian Army.
