Datia Emerges as Model of Development, Innovation and Farmer Prosperity: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Datia represents a remarkable confluence of valour and devotion, where faith and progress go hand in hand. He stated that the State Government is taking all necessary steps to promote tourism in the district. Last year, the Datia Palace of the Bundela period and the Gujjara Minor Rock Edict were included in UNESCO’s Tentative List.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed an inauguration and Bhoomi Poojan event for 71 development projects worth ₹529 crore at Seondha in Datia district on Saturday. He said that Datia’s journey of development is now unstoppable. Today, Datia has emerged as a role model for development, innovation, women’s empowerment and farmer prosperity.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that with the inauguration of Datia Airport, flight services between Datia and Bhopal have commenced. With the Vande Bharat train running from Khajuraho to New Delhi, Delhi is now just a few hours away from Datia. He added that the construction of Maa Pitambara Lok is progressing rapidly, which will give new wings to tourism and provide Datia with a distinct religious and spiritual identity.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that the Ratangarh Irrigation Project, costing approximately ₹2,250 crore, will benefit over 40,000 farmers in the region by providing irrigation facilities. He also congratulated the people of Datia for receiving national-level recognition for their de-addiction program.
Ken–Betwa Project to Benefit Datia Farmers
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Datia, which once struggled with drinking water scarcity, now has tap water reaching every household. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, work is underway on the Ken–Betwa National River Linking Project, which will significantly benefit farmers of Datia district. With irrigation facilities expanding to over 1.48 lakh hectares, agricultural production has increased rapidly. In the past two years, seven minor irrigation projects have been completed in the district. He informed that more than 1.37 lakh farmers in the district are receiving benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, while over 1.26 lakh farmers are covered under the Crop Insurance Scheme.
Focus on Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the State Government is committed to ensuring farmers’ prosperity and dignity. He stated that for the government, soldiers guarding the borders and farmers working in the fields are equally important.
The year 2026 is being observed as “Farmer Welfare Year” in Madhya Pradesh. The irrigated area in the state has increased from 7 lakh hectares in 2003 to over 55 lakh hectares in recent years. Along with expanding irrigation, the government is promoting animal husbandry and dairy production. The grant for each cow in government Gaushalas has been increased from ₹20 to ₹40 per day. Under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Scheme, eligible beneficiaries are being provided subsidies of up to ₹10 lakh for rearing 25 cows.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Datia is blessed with the sacred grace of Maa Pitambara, the blessings of Ratangarh Mata, and the divine presence of Balaji Maharaj of Unao. Datia also holds pride as the karmabhoomi of The Great Gama Pehalwan and Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad. He affirmed that Datia will be developed as a major growth centre.
During the programme, benefits under the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana were distributed to eligible beneficiaries.
Inaugurations and Bhoomi Poojan
Out of the total ₹529 crore, 50 development works worth ₹299.32 crore were inaugurated and Bhoomi Poojan was performed for 21 works worth ₹230.44 crore. These projects will strengthen infrastructure, education, healthcare, drinking water supply and rural development in the district.
Key Announcements
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced the construction of a new road worth ₹475 crore for better connectivity. A new bus stand at Indergarh and funds for beautification works. A new indoor stadium at Seondha. An 8.5 km bypass at Indergarh. ₹5 crore under the Dwarka Yojana for development works in Seondha Municipal Council.
Permanent House for Beneficiaries
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the Sambal Yojana, the State Government stands firmly with poor families in times of distress. Ladli Behna beneficiaries are receiving ₹1,500 per month for women’s empowerment. From the new academic session, free milk distribution will begin in schools to improve children’s health and nutrition. Government school students are being provided books, bicycles and laptops. Under the Rahveer Yojana, accident victims from economically weaker families will receive free medical treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh. Individuals who ensure that an injured person reaches the hospital within the golden hour will be rewarded with ₹25,000. The State Government is committed to providing permanent houses to all eligible beneficiaries. Government bus services will also be introduced this year to strengthen road transport across regions.
Encourage Mass Marriages
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a statewide de-addiction movement is underway, and liquor sales have been banned at 19 religious places. Sites associated with Lord Shri Ram and Shri Krishna will be developed as pilgrimage centres. He called for encouraging mass marriage ceremonies to curb unnecessary expenditure.
Regional MP Smt. Sandhya Rai stated that Datia has received development works worth crores under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. She emphasised the need to develop Sankua Dham as a religious tourism centre to generate employment for local youth. MLA Shri Pradeep Agrawal also expressed gratitude for the development initiatives in the Seondha region. Several public representatives and a large number of citizens were present at the Event.
