Immediate Implementation of CCTV Project for Sindhudurg Coastal Security: Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane
Mumbai, February 2026 : Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has directed officials to expedite the installation of CCTV cameras along the coastline under the jurisdictions of the Vijaydurga, Achara, Nivati, Vengurla, Malvan and Devgad police stations in Sindhudurg, keeping national security considerations in mind.
The directive was issued during a review meeting held at the Mantralaya. IT Department official Virendra Singh participated in the meeting, while the District Collector and Superintendent of Police of Sindhudurg joined via video conferencing.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the proposal to establish an artificial intelligence–enabled CCTV surveillance system along the coastal areas of Sindhudurg district. The project will be implemented through the Maharashtra Maritime Board in view of national security requirements. Minister Rane issued clear instructions to complete all necessary administrative and technical approval processes without delay.
Minister Rane stated that considering Sindhudurg’s geographical location and its extensive coastline, it is essential to establish a robust security mechanism using modern technology. The installation of CCTV cameras will help curb illegal activities, prevent maritime crimes, and enable swift response during emergencies. Emphasizing the critical importance of this project for coastal security, he instructed that work should commence immediately without any delay.
