Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Attends Bihar Police Week–2026 Parade and Annual Awards Ceremony in Patna

Patna, February 2026: On the occasion of Bihar Police Week–2026, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar participated in a grand combined parade-cum-annual awards distribution ceremony held at the Mithilesh Stadium in Patna. The event showcased the discipline, professionalism, and commitment of the Bihar Police and its specialized units.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister inspected the ceremonial march-past and took the salute. Various elite forces participated in the parade, including the Special Task Force, Bihar Police units, Bihar Military Police (Gorkha Battalion), Bihar Anti-Riot Force, Bihar Special Armed Police, and women police contingents. In total, eight contingents marched past, reflecting the strength and preparedness of the state’s police machinery.

The Chief Minister honoured police officers for their outstanding service and exemplary performance. Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Sushil Kumar and Police Inspector Shri Anirudh Kumar were felicitated with commendation certificates for excellence in duty. In addition, the wife of a late police personnel was honoured posthumously in recognition of the supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty.

Recognising the vital role of citizens in supporting law enforcement, the Chief Minister also presented civilian gallantry and duty commendation certificates to several members of the public who assisted the police with courage and responsibility. Awardees included residents from districts such as Rohtas, Begusarai, Bagaha, East Champaran, Madhubani, and Darbhanga, acknowledging their cooperation, bravery, and commitment to public safety.

On this occasion, a special commendation certificate awarded by the Central Government for excellence in policing was formally handed over to the concerned police officials of Darbhanga Nagar Police Station. This recognition highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated policing and institutional efficiency at the grassroots level.

The event began with a formal welcome to the Chief Minister by Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, who presented a bouquet and a memento as a mark of respect. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Chief Secretary Shri Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Shri Arvind Kumar Choudhary, senior officials from the Home Department, and top police officers from across the state.

In his address, the Chief Minister lauded the dedication, discipline, and service spirit of the Bihar Police. He emphasized that public trust, professionalism, and community cooperation are the pillars of effective policing. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening police infrastructure, capacity building, and welfare measures for police personnel.

The Bihar Police Week–2026 celebrations reaffirmed the government’s resolve to promote law and order, recognize excellence, and foster closer cooperation between the police and the public. The ceremony stood as a tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Bihar Police in safeguarding peace and justice across the state.
