UAE Air Defences Intercept Fresh Wave of Iranian Missiles, Security Situation Under Control
Abu Dhabi, Feb 2026 : The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates on Saturday confirmed that the country’s air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a new wave of missiles launched from Iran, preventing large-scale damage and ensuring that the overall security situation remained under control.
In an official statement, the ministry said the interception operation was carried out with a high degree of efficiency, highlighting the preparedness and advanced capabilities of the UAE’s integrated air defence network. According to the ministry, all hostile missiles were neutralised before reaching their intended targets, and no critical infrastructure was damaged during the interception process.
“The Ministry affirms its full readiness and preparedness to deal with any threats,” the statement said, adding that all necessary measures are being taken to firmly confront any attempts to undermine the country’s security and stability. It stressed that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors remains a top priority and will not be compromised under any circumstances.
While the missiles were intercepted in mid-air, debris from the destroyed projectiles fell in several locations across Abu Dhabi, including Saadiyat Island, Khalifa City, the Baniyas area, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, and the Al Falah area. Authorities said emergency and civil defence teams were immediately deployed to the affected areas to secure locations, assess damage, and ensure public safety.
The ministry strongly condemned the targeting, describing it as a blatant violation of national sovereignty and international law. It emphasised that the UAE reserves its full and legitimate right to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, people, and national interests. The statement also urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified reports that could cause panic.
Earlier in the day, the UAE Defence Ministry had reported that the country was subjected to what it described as a “brazen attack” involving Iranian ballistic missiles. The air defence systems, the ministry said, responded with the “highest efficiency,” intercepting several missiles and preventing a far more serious outcome.
However, despite the success of the interception, the ministry confirmed that falling debris in a residential area of Abu Dhabi resulted in some material damage and the tragic death of an individual of Asian nationality. Authorities expressed condolences to the victim’s family and assured that all necessary support and assistance were being provided.
“The relevant authorities dealt with the fallout of debris in a residential area in the city of Abu Dhabi, which resulted in some material damage and the death of an individual of Asian nationality,” the ministry said, noting that investigations are ongoing to assess the full impact of the incident and to ensure accountability.
The Defence Ministry reiterated that the security situation across the country remains stable and under continuous monitoring. All concerned agencies are said to be on high alert, coordinating closely and tracking developments around the clock to ensure swift responses to any further threats.
Condemning the attack in the strongest possible terms, the UAE said the targeting of civilian facilities, residential areas, and national institutions represents a dangerous escalation and a cowardly act that threatens the safety of civilians and undermines regional stability. Such actions, the ministry said, are unacceptable and violate the fundamental principles of international law.
Abu Dhabi further stressed that the missile targeting constitutes a “flagrant violation” of the UAE’s sovereignty and international norms. The country, it added, reserves its full right to respond to this escalation in a manner it deems appropriate, while taking all necessary steps to protect its land, people, residents, and national capabilities.
Reaffirming its defensive posture, the ministry said it remains in a state of heightened readiness to deal with any emerging threats. “The Ministry affirms that it is on high alert and fully prepared to counter anything that targets the disruption of the country’s security and stability,” the statement said.
Once again, the UAE authorities appealed to the public to remain calm, follow official guidance, and seek information only from verified government channels. They warned that circulating rumours or unconfirmed information could hinder response efforts and create unnecessary fear.
The successful interception of the missile attack underscores the UAE’s growing air defence capabilities and its determination to safeguard national security, while also highlighting the volatile security environment in the region and the importance of vigilance and preparedness.
