No complaints of mistreatment of devotees should arise at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham: Chief Minister

Varanasi, March 2026 : On the first day of his two-day visit to Varanasi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday reviewed development works, ongoing construction projects and law and order at the Circuit House auditorium. He issued strict instructions to officials that there should be no incidents of police misbehavior with devotees at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. There should also be no complaints of disorder. He directed the police and temple administration to bring necessary improvements in arrangements.
Chief Minister Yogi said that while ensuring devotees’ access to shops constructed in the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the prices of items sold there must be kept reasonable. Religious institutions are not a means of earning profit but places of faith, and therefore better arrangements must be ensured for devotees.
Yogi instructed officials to speed up construction work at Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghats by increasing manpower. He also directed that historical heritage near the ghats and temples must be preserved under all circumstances during construction work.
Chief Minister instructed that work at the under-construction ropeway station at Godowlia be expedited in line with proper arrangements for boarding and deboarding passengers.
CM Yogi directed that works under the AMRUT-2 scheme related to sewerage and water supply in the city be carried out systematically. There must be intensive monitoring of all projects, and no negligence will be tolerated. Work should not be carried out in a haphazard manner, and roads damaged during construction must be repaired on priority.
Keeping public convenience in mind, Yogi Adityanath directed that ropeway fares be kept reasonable. Chief Minister emphasized greater use of machines to further strengthen cleanliness efforts. He also directed that suitable sites be identified in the city for properly organized vending zones, along with the development of Kanha Upvan and a street dog center.
CM Yogi Adityanath instructed that the widening of Daalmandi Road be completed swiftly after ensuring proper compensation. Underground cabling of electricity wires must be carried out according to standards to ensure public safety. He clearly stated that there should be no shortage of drinking water anywhere during the summer season.
While reviewing law and order, Chief Minister said that any religious activity must be conducted only within the premises of religious sites. No new traditions will be permitted. The use of loud silencers and pressure horns should be stopped, and vehicles must not be parked by encroaching on roads. He directed that schoolchildren be made aware of traffic rules to promote road safety.
He also ordered action against the real culprits involved in the illegal trade of codeine cough syrup. Chief Minister instructed police officials to ensure that illegal and spurious liquor is not sold anywhere and to maintain strict vigilance over its illegal transportation.
CM Yogi Adityanath directed that pending revenue cases be resolved within a fixed timeframe and with quality. Undisputed pending cases should be disposed of immediately. Officials must conduct regular public hearings and ensure solutions based on merit.
Regular meetings of trade bodies, industry representatives and banks should be held at district and commissioner levels, and complaints must be resolved promptly. Chief Minister also said that traffic management should remain smooth and police behavior toward the public must be courteous and responsive.
Chief Minister directed that all gyms be inspected and that arrangements for female trainers be ensured. Strict action should be taken against individuals and even police personnel found involved in illegal activities. In view of upcoming festivals, there should be no sale of illegal or spurious liquor anywhere.
Regular road safety meetings should be conducted along with maximum awareness programs. He instructed officials to ensure foolproof arrangements in the district in view of Holi and other forthcoming festivals.
During the meeting, Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam presented details of proposed projects before Chief Minister. District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar briefed him on various ongoing development works in the district, informing that 74 projects worth approximately ₹17,000 crore are currently underway.
Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal presented information regarding law and order, action against cattle smugglers, cybercrime and traffic management. ADG Zone Piyush Mordia briefed about the proposed Police Sub-Inspector examination scheduled for March 14 and 15.
Stamp and Registration Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ravindra Jaiswal, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, District Panchayat Chairperson Poonam Maurya, MLAs Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari and Dr. Sunil Patel, Legislative Council Members Hansraj Vishwakarma and Rai Dharmendra Singh, Additional Police Commissioner Shivhari Meena, DIG Vaibhav Krishna, Vice Chairman of the Development Authority Purn Bora, Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal, CDO Prakhar Singh, DFO Swati Singh and other concerned officials were present at the meeting.
