CM Devendra Fadnavis Approves ₹121 Crore Plan to Develop Hanuman Gadhi as Religious Tourism Centre in Amravati

Mumbai, March 2026 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to develop the Hanuman Gadhi area near Amravati into an excellent religious tourism destination. The proposal for the development of the Hanuman Gadhi tourism project, estimated at ₹121 crore, was approved during a high-level committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasised that priority should be given to completing tourist facilities in the Hanuman Gadhi area, located near Amravati city. He instructed officials to ensure that the development work is carried out with high quality standards. The Chief Minister also directed that the construction of the Hanuman statue, which will be the main attraction of the tourism centre, should be completed at the earliest.

The meeting was attended by Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore, Minister of State for Finance and Planning Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, MLAs Ravi Rana, Pratap Adsad, and Pravin Datke. Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, Director General of Police Sadanand Date, and Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department Sanjay Khandare were also present.

Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that while developing the Hanuman Gadhi area, special attention should be given to facilities for visitors and pilgrims. He assured that there would be no shortage of funds for the implementation of the development plan. He also instructed officials to ensure that all construction works are completed within the prescribed timeframe.

According to the Chief Minister, once the development project is completed, Hanuman Gadhi will emerge as a major tourist attraction near Amravati city and will provide a significant boost to religious tourism in the region.

The meeting also reviewed the proposed development of the historic Kalyaneshwar Temple precinct in the Mahal area of Nagpur city. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of adequate parking facilities while developing the temple area, as it is located in the central part of Nagpur.

He instructed authorities to develop a large-scale parking facility capable of accommodating a significant number of vehicles to ensure convenience for devotees visiting the temple.

Development Plan Details

Under the proposed development plan for Hanuman Gadhi, construction activities will be carried out across an area of 17,671 square metres. Several infrastructure and tourism-related facilities will be created as part of the project.

The project will include the construction of a Yagna Mandap inspired by the design of the Yagna Mandap at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Other planned facilities include an amphitheatre, a yajna shala, a food mall, a craft centre, an akhada, a Mahaprasad hall, and a multipurpose hall.

In addition, an administrative building and a Hanuman gallery will be developed within the complex. The project will also include disability-friendly pathways and arrangements for rainwater harvesting.

To enhance security and visitor convenience, the entire premises will be equipped with a protective boundary wall, internal roads, and a grand main entrance gate. A laser show system will also be installed on the Hanuman statue, adding a visual attraction for visitors.

Officials believe that the integrated development of the Hanuman Gadhi complex will transform the area into a prominent spiritual and tourism destination, attracting devotees and tourists from across the state and the country.
