Kunkuri’s Power Infrastructure Strengthened Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s Initiative

New 5 MVA Power Transformer Installed at 33/11 KV Substation; Additional 11 KV Feeder Commissioned

Upgrade to Meet Rising Electricity Demand and Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply

Raipur, June 2026 : Under the initiative of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, power infrastructure in Kunkuri area of Jashpur district has been significantly strengthened as part of the state government’s efforts to modernize and expand electricity facilities.

Following the Chief Minister’s directives to improve power infrastructure across the state, a major upgrade has been completed at the 33/11 KV power substation in Kunkuri. The existing 3.15 MVA power transformer has been replaced with a new transformer of 5 MVA capacity, which has been successfully installed and commissioned.

In addition, the construction of an extra 11 KV feeder for the urban area has been completed, and power supply through the new feeder has already commenced.

Extensive Technical Preparations Undertaken

According to officials of the Electricity Department, extensive technical preparations were carried out before the installation of the new transformer. To create adequate space at the site, two distribution poles (DPs) were relocated, an unused control room was dismantled, and repair and strengthening work was undertaken on the existing transformer plinth.

After completing all technical and safety procedures, the transformer replacement project was executed successfully and brought into operation.

Relief for Growing Power Demand

Department officials stated that the increased transformer capacity will help meet the steadily rising electricity demand in the Kunkuri region. The upgrade is expected to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the local power distribution network.

The commissioning of the additional 11 KV feeder will allow better distribution of electrical load across the network. This will reduce the risk of overloading, improve system stability and help ensure smoother and more reliable power supply to consumers.

The strengthened infrastructure is expected to provide significant benefits to households, businesses and institutions in the region by reducing power interruptions and improving the overall quality of electricity supply.

Officials noted that the enhanced capacity and improved load management will enable the power utility to cater more effectively to future growth in demand while maintaining uninterrupted service.
