Vijay to Announce Women-Focused Initiatives at TVK’s International Women’s Day Event

Chennai, March 2026 : Actor-turned-politician Vijay will take part in a special International Women’s Day celebration organised by his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), on Saturday at Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu. During the event, Vijay is expected to unveil a series of announcements and promises aimed at women voters ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The programme, arranged under the banner of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, will take place at a hotel in Mamallapuram beginning at 3 p.m. Party leaders say the gathering will highlight the party’s commitment to women’s welfare and empowerment, while also serving as a platform to outline key proposals that may feature in the party’s election manifesto.

According to TVK general secretary Anand, the Women’s Day event is expected to play an important role in presenting the party’s vision for women in the state. He said Vijay will address the gathering and make several key announcements concerning welfare schemes, development initiatives and policy commitments for women.

In a message shared on his social media page, Anand indicated that Vijay’s speech would include proposals designed to strengthen economic opportunities, safety measures and social support systems for women. These measures, he noted, could later form part of the party’s broader election agenda as it prepares for the state polls.

Political observers view the event as part of TVK’s strategy to expand its outreach among women voters, who represent a significant portion of the electorate in Tamil Nadu. By highlighting policies that address women’s needs and aspirations, the party hopes to build stronger support among this crucial voter group.

As the Assembly elections approach, the leadership of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam is expected to emphasise issues such as women’s safety, employment opportunities, financial assistance programmes and social security measures. Vijay’s announcements during the event may offer an early indication of the party’s priorities and campaign focus for the upcoming election season.

Organisers have implemented strict entry regulations for the Mamallapuram event to ensure smooth management of the programme. Participants have been issued special entry passes embedded with QR codes, and only those with authorised passes will be allowed inside the venue.

Anand clarified that individuals without the QR-coded passes would not be permitted to enter the event location. He urged party supporters and members of the public who do not have passes to watch the programme through television broadcasts and extend their cooperation to the organisers.

In addition to the main event at Mamallapuram, TVK has also planned to extend the Women’s Day celebrations across the state. Anand announced that similar programmes will be organised in districts throughout Tamil Nadu on Sunday to mark the occasion and engage with women at the grassroots level.

The Mamallapuram gathering is expected to draw considerable attention as Vijay continues to expand his political presence. His announcements during the Women’s Day event are likely to signal the party’s broader approach to women-centric policies and help shape its campaign narrative ahead of the Assembly elections.
