Horticulture Minister Inaugurates Chapchar Kut Flower Show 2026

Aizawl, March 2026 : The Chapchar Kut Flower Show, organized by the Horticulture Department as part of the Chapchar Kut celebrations, began today at Aijal Club Park. The Flower Show was inaugurated by Horticulture Minister C. Lalsawivunga, who attended the event as the chief guest. The programme was conducted by Horticulture Department Director C.H. Lalmuanpuia.

Chief Guest C. Lalsawivunga expressed gratitude to the officials of the Horticulture Department, various associations involved in organizing the event, and the participants who showcased their beautiful flowers. He said that he hopes not only the people of Mizoram but also visitors from different parts of India and other countries will have the opportunity to witness the Flower Show.

He emphasized that it is important for the people to be welcoming and hospitable to visitors and said Mizoram should be developed into a beautiful and pleasant destination for tourists. He also encouraged people from different communities living in Mizoram to contribute to the state’s progress just like the various beautiful flowers displayed at the show. Referring to this year’s Chapchar Kut theme of harmony, he said that all residents of Mizoram should promote unity without prejudice or discrimination. He wished that the festival would bring harmony to everyone’s hearts and extended greetings for a joyful celebration of Chapchar Kut.

In 2026, under the guidance of the Chief Minister and the arrangements made by the Chapchar Kut Organizing Committee along with the Horticulture Department, the Chapchar Kut Flower Show 2026 will be held from March 10 to March 12 at Aijal Club Park. Various varieties of flowers and bonsai plants are being beautifully displayed at the exhibition. A total of 72 stalls have been arranged for those interested in selling flowers.

Following the request of the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) Department, strong awareness efforts are also being carried out during the Flower Show to minimize the use of single-use plastics, ensuring that the event remains clean and environmentally friendly.

Except during the COVID-19 period (2021–2022), the Flower Show has been organized every year since 2019. In 2023, the Chapchar Kut & G20 Summit Flower Show-cum-Fair was held, which was attended by G20 delegates from 17 countries in addition to visitors from across India. The event was organized in a grand manner and was widely appreciated by the participants.

The Chapchar Kut Flower Show is jointly organized by the Horticulture Department and four associations: Mizoram Florists’ Association (MFA), Zo-Anthurium Growers Co-operative Society (ZAGCS), Bonsai Association of Mizoram (BAM), and the Orchid Society of Mizoram (ORSOM). The Horticulture Department usually bears the main expenses for the activities of these associations. The associations showcase a variety of beautiful floral items, and stalls are also provided for entrepreneurs engaged in the flower business to sell their products.
