Medical College to Open Soon in Katni: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the state government is committed to the prosperity and development of farmers, the sons of the soil. The government is working for the welfare of all sections of society, including farmers and Ladli Behna. The state has resolved to expand irrigation facilities to every village, and farmers will now receive electricity for irrigation during the daytime as well. He stated that the government stands firmly with farmers at every step to improve their lives. To ensure quality education for children from needy families, grand Sandipani schools are being established across the state. He also announced that a medical college will soon be opened in Katni. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the Kisan Mahotsav (Farmers’ Festival) held in Barhi of Katni district on Saturday.
During Krishak Kalyan Varsh 2026, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced gifts of development works worth ₹1,000 crore for Katni and inaugurated and performed Bhoomi Poojan of 97 development works worth
₹243 crore for Vijayraghavgarh. These include newly constructed bridges, a college and a Sandipani school. A short film focusing on farmers’ prosperity was also screened at the event. Citizens of Vijayraghavgarh warmly welcomed Chief Minister Dr. Yadav during a grand roadshow. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic reception.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also announced the beautification of Bada Talab under the Jal Ganga Samwardhan Campaign and distributed benefits to eligible beneficiaries of various government schemes. At the Kisan Sammelan held in the sacred town of Vijaynath Dham, Barhi, he visited an exhibition dedicated to farmer welfare and even took a ride on a tractor displayed there. At the conference, he was presented with a symbolic plough and a memento.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that employment-oriented industrial units worth ₹9 lakh crore are being established in the state. Madhya Pradesh has become one of the fastest-growing states in the country. The unemployment rate in the state is lower than the national average. The state government is moving forward with the goal of ensuring welfare and employment opportunities for all sections of society. The Chief Minister announced that reservoirs and canals in the district will be renovated, while roads and culverts will also be upgraded. An indoor volleyball stadium will be constructed in Barhi, and an irrigation project at the confluence of the Mahanadi and Umdar rivers will also be developed. He added that sports stadiums for youth are being constructed in every Assembly constituency of the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that there is no shortage of funds in the government treasury for Ladli Behnas, and the state government continues to receive their blessings. More than ₹1,800 crore has been distributed to 1 crore 25 lakh 27 thousand Ladli Behnas. The Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana is completing three years, and all eligible beneficiaries are receiving ₹1,500 every month. To ensure that rural families have permanent houses, a new survey will soon begin. The government has also launched the ‘Rahveer Yojana’ to assist victims of road accidents. Anyone who helps transport an injured person to the hospital will receive an incentive of ₹25,000, while the injured will be entitled to free treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh. An air ambulance service has also been introduced as an innovative initiative to save lives.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to ensure farmers’ prosperity, the government is providing adequate water, electricity and other essential facilities for irrigation. Since 2004, the price of wheat in the state has increased by more than ₹2,000 per quintal, and with the bonus, wheat is being procured this year at ₹2,625 per quintal. Over the past two years, the irrigation coverage in the state has increased to 55 lakh hectares, with a target to expand it to 100 lakh hectares in the coming years. Farmers are also receiving the benefit of ₹12,000 annually under the Samman Nidhi.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that milk and dairy products have been a symbol of India’s identity for thousands of years. The state government has set a target to increase milk production from 9 per cent to 20 per cent. Under the Mata Yashoda Yojana, free milk packets will be distributed to schoolchildren to improve their health. School dropout rates in government schools in the state have reduced from 6 percent to nearly zero, placing Madhya Pradesh ahead of the national average. The government is providing opportunities for youth in all sectors, including school and higher education. The Jal Ganga Samwardhan Campaign will soon be launched across the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always placed national interest above everything else. Even amid global conflicts, including tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, Indian ships proudly return home flying the Tricolour. The Chief Minister described the statements made by the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding the current crisis affecting Gulf countries as unfortunate. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, as always, fulfilled his responsibilities by ensuring the safe evacuation of students and citizens trapped in conflict zones.
Member of Parliament Shri Vishnudutt Sharma said that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has announced development works worth ₹1,000 crore for the region. A ₹161 crore irrigation project from the Bansagar Dam will provide water for irrigation to farmers, while ₹95 crore has been allocated for the construction of new bridges in the area. He stated that an Agriculture Village could also be established in the Katni region to provide new dimensions to agriculture. MLA Shri Sanjay Pathak said that Katni has received several development initiatives during the Krishak Kalyan Varsh.
School Education and Transport Minister and district in-charge Shri Uday Pratap Singh, MLA Shri Sandeep Jaiswal, MLA Shri Dhirendra Bahadur Singh, MLA Shri Pranay Prabhat Pandey, MLA Maihar Shri Shrikant Chaturvedi, along with other public representatives, officials, a large number of farmers, and local citizens were present at the event.
Chief Minister Launches Beautification Work of Bada Talab
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, during his visit to Barhi in Katni district, inaugurated the beautification work of Bada Talab. Under the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign, the lake is being rejuvenated at a cost of ₹50 lakh. The project includes the construction of ghats around the lake, installation of fountains, and other beautification works. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also visited the Shri Vijaynath Dham Temple in Barhi, where he offered prayers to Lord Shiva and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and good health of the people of the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav participated in Abhar rally in Barhi, Katni district, on Saturday. The rally passed through the main market road and reached the programme venue. Residents of Barhi welcomed the Chief Minister by showering flower petals along the route.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav greeted the people, while farmers, traders, public representatives, social organisations and prominent citizens warmly welcomed and felicitated him. Several organisations set up stalls along the rally route to greet the Chief Minister, including the Medical Traders’ Association, Grocery Traders’ Association, Sarafa Traders’ Association, Cloth Traders’ Association, Volleyball Sports Club, families of freedom fighters, Hardware Association, Kasodhan Gupta community, Bar Association, SAIL Union family, councilors and a large number of citizens.
Farmers Express Gratitude for Barhi Micro Lift Irrigation Project
Farmers expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav during the rally for approving the Barhi Micro Lift Irrigation Project, an ambitious scheme that will bring irrigation water to the fields of nearly 11,000 farmers across 27 villages in the Vijayraghavgarh Assembly constituency. The project received approval from the state cabinet.
The project is estimated to cost ₹566.92 crore. After completion, irrigation facilities will be available across nearly 20,000 hectares of agricultural land in 27 villages of Barhi and Vijayraghavgarh tehsils, ensuring water supply for crops in the fields of about 11,000 farmers.
