Small Savings, Big Step: Mahtari Vandan Yojana Helps Woman Start Her Own Business

A small saving has turned into a big step for self-reliance, as the Mahtari Vandan Yojana helped a woman start her own business. With the financial assistance received under the scheme, Krishna Kurre began running a beauty parlour from her home.

Raipur, March 2026: The Mahtari Vandan Yojana, launched by the Government of Chhattisgarh to empower women and promote their economic self-reliance, is bringing positive changes to the lives of lakhs of women across the state. Implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the scheme provides financial support to women and motivates them to become self-dependent.

Under the initiative, eligible women receive ₹1,000 every month, which is helping many of them give wings to their dreams. The financial assistance is enabling women not only to support their families but also to gain respect and recognition in society.

In Korba district, many women are benefiting from the scheme and transforming their lives. One such beneficiary is Mrs. Krishna Kurre, a resident of the Sitamadhi area in the district. She shared that earlier she used to go out to work in order to meet her family’s needs. However, she always wanted to start some work of her own.

According to Kurre, going out for work was not always comfortable for her, and she wished to start a self-employment activity near her home. Around the same time, the state government launched the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. After learning about the scheme, she immediately applied and soon began receiving its benefits.

The financial assistance under the scheme started getting deposited into her bank account every month on time. She gradually began saving the money. After some time, when her savings reached around ₹12,000 to ₹15,000, she decided to use the amount to start a beauty parlour at her home.

Today, she runs the parlour from her residence, which means she no longer needs to travel outside for work. At the same time, she can manage her household responsibilities while earning an income.

Mrs. Kurre said that she has three daughters and is now able to meet their small daily needs more easily. Earlier, she had to depend on others for many essential expenses, but now she is able to earn and support her family on her own. This has significantly improved the financial condition of her household and brought greater happiness to her family.

Expressing gratitude for the initiative, Kurre thanked Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and said that the state government’s scheme has given women like her an opportunity to move forward and become self-reliant. She added that today they are able to live their lives with dignity and confidence along with their families.
