India Post to Launch ‘24 Speed Post’ for Guaranteed Next-Day Delivery

New Delhi, March 2026 : India Post is set to introduce a new express delivery facility that promises to deliver parcels, consignments and important articles within 24 hours. The initiative, announced by the government on Monday, aims to significantly strengthen the country’s postal logistics network and provide faster services for time-sensitive shipments.

The Department of Posts will officially launch the new ‘24 Speed Post’ service on Tuesday (March 17). The programme is designed to ensure next-day guaranteed delivery for urgent consignments and is expected to improve the efficiency of express logistics services in major cities.

The launch event will take place at the Rang Bhawan Auditorium in Akashvani Bhawan at 12:30 p.m. It will be inaugurated by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia along with Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani in the presence of senior officials from the postal department.

According to the Ministry of Communications, the ‘24 Speed Post’ service will provide assured next-day delivery, especially for urgent and time-bound consignments. In the first phase, the facility will be introduced in six major metropolitan cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Alongside this initiative, the Department of Posts will also offer two categories of premium express services — ‘24 Speed Post’ and ‘48 Speed Post’. These services will provide assured delivery within D+1 and D+2 days respectively. The improved timelines will be supported by dedicated parcel processing windows and priority air transportation to ensure faster movement of consignments across cities.

The services will incorporate several modern technological features to improve reliability and customer convenience. These include OTP-based secure delivery, end-to-end tracking, and SMS alerts that will allow customers to monitor the status of their shipments in real time.

For business and corporate clients, India Post will introduce additional benefits such as the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) facility, which allows companies to settle payments at a later date. Bulk customers will also receive free pickup services for large shipments, along with API integration to connect directly with e-commerce platforms and centralised billing systems.

The Ministry of Communications said that the service will also include a money-back guarantee in case the promised delivery timelines are not met, reinforcing the reliability of India Post’s premium logistics services.

Earlier this month, Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani informed the Lok Sabha that the Department of Posts has undertaken multiple initiatives to strengthen its presence in the parcel and e-commerce logistics sector.

These efforts include modernising the country’s parcel processing and delivery ecosystem to improve speed, reliability and customer experience through standardised systems nationwide. The department has also strengthened last-mile delivery through the creation of Nodal Delivery Centres that support mechanised and dedicated parcel distribution.

Additionally, under the Advanced Postal Technology 2.0 project, new technological features such as real-time delivery updates, OTP-based verification and API integration with e-commerce partners have been introduced.

With these initiatives, India Post aims to transform itself into a major public logistics organisation capable of competing effectively in the rapidly expanding e-commerce and express delivery market while continuing to provide reliable postal services across the country.
