Padma Shri Hussain Brothers and Rajab Ali Bharti Add Musical Charm to Rajasthan Day Celebrations
Jaipur, March 2026: The Rajasthan Day celebrations at Jawahar Kala Kendra were filled with melodious performances as Padma Shri awardees Ahmed Hussain and Mohammed Hussain presented soulful bhajans, while Rajab Ali Bharti enthralled the audience with songs and ghazals on Monday evening.
The musical evening, held at the Rangayan Auditorium of Jawahar Kala Kendra from 6 pm, was part of a series of cultural programmes being organised by the centre in collaboration with various academies to mark Rajasthan Day.
Additional Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra, Anuradha Gogia, welcomed the artists by presenting them with shawls. The event was attended by Gopal Sharma and Jaswant Singh, the elder brother of legendary ghazal singer Jagjit Singh.
World-renowned ghazal singers Ahmed Hussain and Mohammed Hussain, popularly known as the Hussain Brothers, presented a melodious rendition of the classical devotional piece “Gaiye Ganpati Jagvandan, Shankar Suvan Bhavani Ke Nandan.” Their performance of the devotional hymn composed by Tulsidas mesmerised the audience.
They also offered a devotional presentation dedicated to Radha Govind Dev Ji Temple through the bhajan “Ab Radhe Rani De Daro Bansi Mori.” The duo further showcased their musical artistry with the ghazal “Chal Mere Saath Hi Chal.”
Earlier, the first segment of the programme began with Rajab Ali Bharti opening the evening with the famous Rajasthani Maand folk song “Kesariya Balam.” He then presented the popular ghazal “Ranjishe Hi Sahi.” The performances were accompanied by excellent instrumental support, including violin by noted artist Manbhavan Dangi.
Rajab Ali Bharti also presented famous ghazals associated with legendary singers such as Ghulam Ali and Mehdi Hassan. His soulful renditions included Jagjit Singh’s “Koi Fariyaad,” Ghulam Ali’s “Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa,” and “Hum Tere Shehar Mein Aaye Hain.” The audience enthusiastically applauded his performance, clapping along with the rhythm.
He also sang “Chupke Chupke Raat Din Aansoo Bahana Yaad Hai,” and received tremendous appreciation from the audience. A spiritual rendition of the famous composition “Chaap Tilak” by Amir Khusrau was another highlight of the evening.
A large number of art and music lovers attended the programme and thoroughly enjoyed the performances. The presence of such an enthusiastic audience was also praised from the stage through poetic expressions and shayari.
Art Exhibition Inaugurated
Dr. Anuradha Gogia informed that an art exhibition organised by the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi was also inaugurated on Monday at the Surekh Art Gallery at Jawahar Kala Kendra.
Programmes Scheduled for March 17
She further said that on March 17, the Rajasthan State Archives will inaugurate a three-day exhibition at the Alankar Art Gallery, showcasing historical records and rare documents.
As part of Rajasthan Day celebrations, a discussion session titled “Life and Works of the Renowned Abstract Artist Jyoti Swaroop” will be held at the Rangayan Auditorium from 5 pm to 6 pm.
Later in the evening, a theatrical performance titled “Samudra Manthan” will be staged at the central courtyard of Jawahar Kala Kendra under the aegis of the Tourism Department by the National School of Drama. The play has been conceptualised and directed by Chittaranjan Tripathy.
Entry to the programmes will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
