13,712-Page Chargesheet Filed in Prajwal Revanna Obscene Video Case; 39 Accused Named

Bengaluru, March 2026 : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged obscene video case involving former MP Prajwal Revanna has filed a massive 13,712-page chargesheet before a court in Hassan, marking a significant development in the high-profile case that surfaced during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, is facing multiple serious charges, including rape and sexual harassment. The SIT’s chargesheet names 39 accused individuals, with links to both the BJP and Congress, indicating a wide network allegedly involved in the circulation of the videos.

The chargesheet has been submitted to the Senior Civil Court in Hassan and primarily pertains to the distribution of pen drives containing explicit videos. During the course of the investigation, 52 individuals were identified, but sufficient evidence was found to formally charge 39 of them.

The probe was initiated following a complaint filed by advocate Poornachandra, who had served as a JD(S) agent during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. According to investigators, the accused had procured nearly 70 pen drives in Hassan, which were allegedly used to distribute the videos.

The SIT recorded statements from as many as 277 witnesses, building its case on extensive testimonies, technical data, and forensic analysis. Officials confirmed that the charges are backed by evidence collected from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), including digital tracking of content circulation.

Among those named in the chargesheet are Naveen (A1), Karthik N. (A2), who served as Revanna’s driver, along with several others including Chetan B.C., Chetan Y.S., Likhith Gowda, and Devarajegowda. Investigators allege that the accused played various roles in recording, storing, and distributing the videos.

The SIT has stated that the videos were allegedly recorded on mobile phones without the consent of the women involved and later circulated via pen drives and mobile devices. The distribution reportedly intensified during the election period, amplifying the political and public impact of the case.

The scandal first came to light ahead of the April 26, 2024 Lok Sabha elections, when pen drives containing explicit content allegedly linked to Revanna were circulated in Hassan. The revelations triggered widespread outrage and led to the registration of four separate cases against him.

Revanna was arrested in May 2024 upon his return from Germany. In one of the cases, a special court convicted him and sentenced him to life imprisonment, along with financial penalties.

The Karnataka High Court has since refused to suspend his sentence, citing the seriousness of the charges, multiple pending cases, and concerns over potential witness tampering.

Revanna has challenged the verdict, arguing inconsistencies in witness testimonies and alleged gaps in the prosecution’s evidence. However, with the SIT now completing its investigation and filing the detailed chargesheet, the legal proceedings are expected to move into the next crucial phase.
