‘Tettiri’ Song, Arrest Likely
Panchkula, 2026 : Punjabi singer Badshah has landed in fresh controversy over his song “Tettiri,” with legal action intensifying and the possibility of his arrest looming. Two FIRs have been registered against the artist, and authorities have indicated that the matter is being pursued seriously.
Haryana State Women’s Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia stated that the investigation is progressing swiftly. Speaking to the media, she said that senior officials have assured that strict action will be taken and that Badshah could be arrested soon as part of the ongoing probe.
The controversy also involves the alleged misuse of government property during the making of the song. Bhatia strongly objected to the use of government buses without permission and warned of action against all those involved, including drivers and other participants. She stressed that such actions cannot be overlooked, particularly when public assets and the safety of young women are concerned.
Referring to past incidents, she highlighted the importance of accountability, noting that any misuse of public transport or institutions, especially those linked to students, raises serious concerns. She asserted that authorities would not remain passive in the face of such violations, emphasizing that such acts could negatively impact society and its values.
Bhatia also called upon women leaders and commissions across the country to take a united stand against content that compromises women’s dignity or cultural values. She pointed out that the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission has already acted in the matter by banning the singer’s programs in the state, setting an example for others to follow.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of the issue under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, citing allegations of obscenity and indecency in the song. The commission has issued summons to Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, along with director Mahi Sandhu, co-director Joban Sandhu, and producer Hiten.
All those named have been directed to appear before the commission on March 25. As the investigation unfolds, the case has sparked a wider debate on artistic freedom, accountability, and the portrayal of women in popular media.
