Jaipur Metro Expansion to Cover Key Areas: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, March 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma chaired a review meeting on the Jaipur Metro project and directed officials to ensure that all major locations are included in the upcoming expansion phase. He emphasized that metro connectivity should be planned in line with population density to provide convenient and efficient public transport to residents.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is consistently working to enhance urban mobility through the metro network. He instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for the next phase of expansion, keeping future requirements in mind and prioritizing densely populated areas. He also stressed that metro projects must be executed in a time-bound manner while keeping costs under control.

During the meeting, officials presented proposals for metro expansion, including plans announced in the 2025–26 budget for preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar. The Chief Minister reviewed the proposed alignments and directed authorities to develop a master plan for extending metro services to key areas such as Amer, Bagrana (Agra Road), Jagatpura, and ISBT Heerapura, considering the city’s growing population.

In addition, he issued specific directions regarding the construction of an elevated road from Aranya Bhavan to Jagatpura. He instructed that the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Jaipur Metro authorities should work in close coordination to ensure smooth execution of the project.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of Metro Phase-2, Phase-1C (Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar), and Phase-1D (Mansarovar to Ajmer Road Junction). Officials made detailed presentations outlining various plans and progress related to the metro project.

Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Akhil Arora, Principal Secretary Finance and Managing Director of Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited Vaibhav Galaria, and Jaipur Development Authority Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan, along with other metro and JDA officials, were present at the meeting.
