Telangana to Introduce Single-Window System for Film Industry; CM Revanth Reddy Unveils Vision for Global Cinema Hub
Hyderabad, March 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a major policy initiative to boost the film industry, stating that the government will introduce a single-window clearance system to streamline all film-related permissions. The move is aimed at accelerating growth in the sector and positioning Telangana, particularly Hyderabad, as a global hub for cinema on par with its established reputation in the IT and pharmaceutical industries.
The Chief Minister made the announcement while attending the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards (TGFA) ceremony at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, where several prominent personalities from the film fraternity and political leadership were present. Among those in attendance were Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, and Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju, along with celebrated film personalities such as Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan, Nagarjuna, Madhuri Dixit, Jayasudha, Khushbu Sundar, and Genelia D’Souza.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that the revival of the film awards under the name of Gaddar signifies the government’s recognition of cinema as a major industry. The awards were presented for a ten-year period during which the earlier Nandi Awards had remained stalled, reflecting the state’s commitment to honouring artistic excellence.
Congratulating the award winners, Reddy stated that the government considers the presentation of the Gaddar Film Awards a matter of pride and responsibility. He recalled the pioneering efforts of legends like N. T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, D. Ramanaidu, and Krishna, who played a crucial role in shifting the Telugu film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad. He likened their contribution to the four pillars of Charminar, which firmly established the city as a cinematic centre.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the contributions of notable figures such as Dasari Narayana Rao and Ramoji Rao in strengthening the film ecosystem in Hyderabad.
Calling for unity across linguistic boundaries, Reddy urged the industry to come together under the banner of Indian or Pan-India cinema and work collectively to elevate its global standing. He extended an open invitation to international filmmakers, including Hollywood productions, assuring them of full government support, security, and a conducive investment environment.
He further noted that global OTT giant Netflix has established a presence in Hyderabad, reinforcing the city’s growing importance in the global media and entertainment landscape. The proposed single-window system, he added, will also cater to large-scale international productions, making the process of obtaining clearances faster and more efficient.
Paying tribute to Gaddar, the Chief Minister described him as a symbol of social consciousness and said cinema should serve as a powerful medium for awareness and societal transformation.
During the ceremony, several prestigious awards were conferred. Chiranjeevi received the NTR National Award, while Kamal Haasan was honoured with the Paidi Jairaj Award. Jayasudha, among others, was also recognised for her contributions to cinema.
In competitive categories, actor Naga Chaitanya won Best Actor for Thandel, and Rashmika Mandanna was named Best Actress for The Girlfriend. Awards were also presented across various other categories, celebrating excellence in filmmaking.
The event underscored Telangana’s ambitious vision to transform its film industry into a global powerhouse, blending cultural legacy with modern infrastructure and policy support.
