Unique event in SCERT: Students become officers and professors

A unique scene was witnessed in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Raipur when the senior officials of the institution and assistant professors, experts in science and mathematics subjects, became students of class 10th. When they attended the science class on ‘National Space Day’ and learned what astronomy is? How did Chandrayaan-3 land on the moon on 23 August 2023? When they saw India’s Chandrayaan 3 landing again, everyone became emotional. Only one voice came out of everyone’s mouth – Bharat Mata ki Jai. The main objective of this event was to understand the nuances of astronomy along with the students on ‘National Space Day’.

At the beginning of the program, a video based on the Sanskrit syllabus of class 10 was shown under the guidance of SCERT Director Shri Rajendra Kumar Katara, in which Dr. Lunesh Verma highlighted various aspects of astronomy. After this, the portal ‘Bharat on the Moon’ developed by the Government of India and NCERT was displayed, in which a video of Chandrayaan-3 landing was shown. On this occasion, information about ISRO’s activities and the material available on the portal was also given.

Additional Director of SCERT, Shri J.P. Rath, who was present at the program, called this event historic and said that our Gurus have contributed significantly to the achievements of ISRO. He congratulated all the science and mathematics teachers for this event.

Litterateur and educationist Dr. Chittaranjan Kar discussed the Indian knowledge tradition and said that we have rich knowledge, which does not require laboratories. He also emphasized on the mutual relationship between science and literature.

In the programme, Assistant Professor Shri K.K. Shukla highlighted the importance of Chandrayaan-3 landing which was done in 14 days of moonlight. This event at SCERT was not only important from the scientific point of view but also reflects India’s scientific advancement and our progress in the field of astronomy.

Assistant Director of State Literacy Mission Authority, Mr. Prashant Pandey, faculty members of SCERT and more than 100 experts in Mathematics and Chemistry who had come for in-service teacher training were also present at the event.
