Workshop on Cyber Crime Awareness Held by OSCW to Strengthen Women’s Safety
Bhubaneswar, March 2026: A workshop on safeguarding women from cybercrimes was organised today at the conference hall of the Women and Child Development Institution in Laxmisagar, Bhubaneswar. The programme was organised under the aegis of the Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW).
The workshop was chaired by Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Women, Shobhana Mahanti, and was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Director of the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Odisha, Swyamprabha Mahanti, IAS, attended the event as the chief guest. Members of the Commission, including Urmila Mahapatra, Pratibha Satpathy and Dr Kalpana Mallick, were also present.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate, Akshay Kumar Nayak, joined as the key resource person and delivered a detailed session on cyber crimes, focusing on preventive measures and safety mechanisms for women.
The technical session featured an in-depth presentation by Nayak, who elaborated on various forms of cyber crimes and shared practical guidance on how women can protect themselves in the digital space.
The workshop witnessed participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including police officials, legal experts, policymakers, civil society representatives, NGO members, social workers, law students, and officials of the Odisha State Commission for Women.
