Telangana to Roll Out New CSR Policy to Boost Corporate Funding, Says CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad, March 2026: A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that the Telangana government will introduce a comprehensive policy to attract higher Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions and ensure their effective utilisation across the state. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between the government and corporate sector for development projects.
During a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to develop systems that can both increase CSR inflow and improve its implementation. To encourage companies to contribute more, he proposed organising annual felicitation events to recognise top contributors. These events are planned to be held as part of the State Formation Day celebrations, giving public recognition to corporate efforts.
In a significant step, the Chief Minister approved the establishment of a dedicated CSR cell at the state level. This unit will function from a separate office and will coordinate CSR activities undertaken by companies in Telangana. It will also compile and maintain a list of projects from various government departments that are suitable for CSR funding.
The government has also approved the creation of a ‘Telangana CSR Portal,’ which will act as a bridge between corporate entities and the state administration. The portal will provide detailed information on projects across sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development that are open for CSR investment.
Emphasising ease of access, the Chief Minister instructed officials to design the portal in a user-friendly and engaging manner. This will allow companies to easily explore opportunities and select projects that align with their goals and priorities, making CSR participation more streamlined and efficient.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that Telangana currently receives only around three per cent of the total CSR contributions in the country. Expressing concern over this low share, Revanth Reddy stressed the need for urgent measures to improve both the inflow and utilisation of CSR funds within the state.
He directed officials to take firm steps to ensure that corporate companies and industries operating in Telangana contribute more CSR funds and prioritise spending within the state. He also asked them to study successful strategies adopted by other states to increase CSR contributions and adapt those best practices.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the new policy should be designed to attract corporate participation through innovative and practical approaches. By creating a structured system supported by technology, coordination, and recognition, the government aims to maximise the impact of CSR initiatives.
With these measures, Telangana is working towards increasing its share of national CSR contributions while ensuring that funds are effectively utilised for meaningful and inclusive development across the state.
