Vijay Unveils 10-Point Youth Agenda, Promises Jobs, Education and Governance Reforms

Chennai, March 2026 : Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Sunday announced a comprehensive 10-point youth agenda, presenting it as a “guarantee” to transform opportunities for young people if the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) comes to power in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing a large gathering in Nungambakkam, Vijay described the plan as a direct social contract with the state’s youth, emphasising employment, education, and governance reforms at a time when concerns over job scarcity are rising. “This is not just a promise, this is TVK’s guarantee… your brother Vijay’s guarantee,” he said, underlining the party’s youth-centric vision.

A key highlight of the agenda is the commitment to create a drug-free Tamil Nadu. Vijay proposed stricter laws to curb the trafficking and consumption of narcotics, along with grassroots initiatives such as anti-drug clubs in schools and colleges. These efforts aim to build awareness and prevent substance abuse among young people at an early stage.

In the field of education, the TVK chief introduced an “Education Guarantee Scheme” that promises collateral-free loans of up to Rs 20 lakh for higher studies. The proposal is aimed at ensuring that no student is forced to discontinue education due to financial limitations. Vijay stressed that access to education should not depend on economic background.

Addressing unemployment, Vijay proposed a Tamil Nadu Recruitment Accountability and Transparency Act, which would establish a fixed annual calendar for government hiring. Under this system, recruitment processes would be completed within a year, ensuring timely job opportunities. Until candidates secure employment, the party has promised financial assistance — Rs 4,000 per month for graduates and Rs 2,500 for diploma and ITI holders above 25 years of age.

The agenda also outlines a large-scale internship programme targeting five lakh youth annually. Participants would receive stipends of Rs 10,000 for graduates and Rs 8,000 for diploma holders, helping bridge the gap between education and employment. To promote entrepreneurship, TVK plans to offer collateral-free loans of up to Rs 25 lakh and introduce a “Tamil Employment Credit System,” encouraging companies to hire at least 75 per cent of their workforce locally.

In governance, Vijay proposed appointing youth as “Chief Minister’s People Service Associates” in local bodies, with a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000. This initiative aims to strengthen last-mile delivery of government services. Additionally, a Youth Advisory Council will be set up to ensure direct participation of young people in policymaking.

The plan also includes a “Creator-preneur” initiative to support 1.5 lakh youth with seed funding, along with the establishment of 500 specialised schools across the state to enhance skill development.

“Every announcement is aimed at securing the future of Tamil Nadu’s youth,” Vijay said, reinforcing his party’s focus on empowering the younger generation ahead of the Assembly elections.
