Raipur, March 2026 : Under the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026, the wrestling competition held over the last four days at Gandhi Stadium in Ambikapur, district headquarters of Surguja, concluded successfully today. In the first historic edition, Karnataka’s Manisha Jones Siddi proved her talent by winning the gold medal in the 76 kg weight category of wrestling, bringing pride to her state. Raised amid hardships, this victory is not just a medal but a triumph of years of hard work and unwavering determination.

Mother became support after father’s death

Manisha’s sporting journey has been full of challenges. She said that when she was in Class 5, her father passed away. Despite this, her mother did not give up and worked tirelessly day and night to support Manisha’s dreams. Earlier, Manisha had won silver and bronze medals in several national competitions, but this is the first gold medal of her career.

Support from sports hostel and family

Sharing her success, Manisha highlighted the important role of the sports hostel in Karnataka. She said, “The hostel coaches and fellow players always motivated me. My elder brother has been my guide, while my younger brother, who is himself a state-level athlete, is my biggest strength.”

Tribal Games – a platform for new identity

Manisha expressed gratitude to the central government and organisers, saying that platforms like the Khelo India Tribal Games provide children from tribal communities an opportunity to move forward with their unique identity. She appreciated the arrangements at the venue, stating that security, food and transport facilities during the matches were excellent. She also praised the people of Chhattisgarh and described the environment as very pleasant for athletes.

With the shine of the gold medal, Manisha is now focused on bigger challenges ahead. Encouraged by her success in Chhattisgarh, she is preparing to represent India at the international level. Her ultimate goal is to win a gold medal on the global stage and bring glory to the country.
