Rajasthan Offers Highest MSP Payment for Wheat Procurement
Jaipur, April 2026 : The Chief Secretary chaired a review meeting on preparations for wheat procurement under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system, ensuring that farmers face no difficulties throughout the process.
Rajasthan has become the state offering the highest payment for wheat procurement under MSP. Farmers will receive ₹2,735 per quintal, which includes the Central government’s MSP of ₹2,585 along with a ₹150 per quintal bonus provided by the state government.
During the meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas reviewed the arrangements for the 2026 wheat procurement process. He issued necessary instructions to various procurement agencies, including FCI, Rajfed, Tilam Sangh, NAFED, NCCF, and RSFCSC, to ensure smooth operations.
He directed officials to ensure that farmers receive the full benefit of MSP and that the procurement process remains transparent, timely, and hassle-free. With wheat arrivals expected to begin soon at procurement centres, all agencies were instructed to maintain proper arrangements and initiate procurement and weighing processes on schedule.
The Chief Secretary also emphasized timely Aadhaar-based payments to farmers and ensuring adequate availability of gunny bags at procurement centres.
Notably, the number of procurement centres has been increased from 327 last year to 471 this year, marking a 44 percent rise. Farmers can now book time slots in advance based on their harvesting schedule and deliver their produce to nearby centres, reducing waiting times and congestion.
Officials were also directed to spread awareness about the time-slot booking system through media and videos. Procurement agencies were asked to secure sufficient credit limits from banks to avoid delays in payments.
Additionally, the Chief Secretary stressed that the ₹150 bonus provided by the Rajasthan government should benefit only local farmers. District collectors were instructed to ensure proper verification and monitor border areas to prevent wheat from neighbouring states being sold in Rajasthan mandis.
Senior officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department and representatives of procurement agencies were present at the meeting.
