PM Modi, Leaders Extend Easter Greetings, Call for Peace, Unity and Renewal
New Delhi, April 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended warm greetings to citizens across the country on the occasion of Easter, highlighting the message of hope, renewal, and togetherness associated with the festival.
Easter Sunday, one of the most significant days in Christianity, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, believed to have occurred three days after his crucifixion on Good Friday. The day symbolizes the triumph of life over death, forgiveness of sins, and the promise of eternal life, making it a deeply spiritual and joyous occasion for Christians worldwide.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said that Easter represents hope and renewal and expressed his wishes for peace, joy, and positivity in people’s lives. He also emphasized that the teachings of Jesus Christ—centered on compassion, kindness, and unity—should inspire society to strengthen the spirit of togetherness.
Joining in the greetings, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla conveyed his wishes for happiness and new beginnings. He noted that the occasion serves as a reminder to deepen faith and embrace positivity, expressing hope that the day would bring peace, blessings, and fulfillment to people’s lives.
Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda also extended greetings, underlining the importance of hope, compassion, and fresh beginnings. He urged citizens to follow the path shown by Jesus Christ and spread love and peace in their communities, wishing prosperity and well-being for all.
Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju echoed similar sentiments, stating that the occasion should inspire harmony, service to others, and compassion. He called upon people to remember the teachings of Christ and embrace a life guided by hope, light, and unity.
In Manipur, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand shared a heartfelt message, linking the spirit of Easter with the state’s current challenges. He described Easter as a powerful symbol of renewal, emphasizing that even after difficult times, hope can rise and healing can begin.
Khemchand acknowledged that Manipur has faced challenges that have tested unity, trust, and resilience, but expressed confidence that the state would emerge stronger and more united. He urged people to rise above divisions, rebuild community bonds, and restore the spirit of brotherhood.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment, he said efforts would continue to restore normalcy, ensure justice, and promote inclusive development across the state. He emphasized that peace is not just an aspiration but a shared responsibility that requires collective effort.
Leaders across the political spectrum used the occasion to call for unity, compassion, and harmony, reinforcing the universal message of Easter. As people celebrate the festival with prayers and gatherings, the emphasis remains on spreading kindness and fostering a sense of togetherness in society.
The festival once again serves as a reminder that hope, faith, and renewal can guide individuals and communities toward a more peaceful and united future.
