Bastar 2.0 Begins: CM Sai Invites PM Modi, Presents Development Blueprint
PM’s Bastar Visit to Become a Turning Point, Big Projects on the Cards
Raipur, April 2026 : Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and presented a new vision for Bastar’s future. During the meeting, the Chief Minister not only expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the peace achieved in the state after the end of Naxalism, but also submitted a detailed and forward-looking blueprint for the comprehensive development of Bastar. He also invited the Prime Minister to visit Bastar after the monsoon, where several major projects are proposed to be launched and inaugurated in his presence.
The Chief Minister stated that Naxalism has ended in Bastar and across the state, and peace has now been established. Under reforms in education and healthcare, new education cities, super-speciality hospitals and medical colleges are being developed, while connectivity is being strengthened through a barrage on the Indravati River, railway lines and airport expansion. He said that through this blueprint, a new era of development, employment and improved facilities will begin in Bastar.
In his development document, the Chief Minister mentioned that the vision of peace and development for Bastar envisioned by the Prime Minister a decade ago is now being realized on the ground. With the end of Naxalism, there is no fear among the people, but a new wave of hope and development. He said that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, Bastar will gain new direction and momentum, boosting confidence and enthusiasm in the region.
The development blueprint presented by the Chief Minister is based on the strategy of “Saturation, Connect, Facilitate, Empower and Engage.” Under this, rapid expansion of basic facilities in Bastar has been targeted. Remote villages will be connected through an extensive road network. Along with completing pending works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana by 2027, construction of 228 new roads and 267 bridges has been proposed. Additionally, special central assistance has been sought for 61 new projects.
Major transformations are also planned in energy and infrastructure sectors. Efforts to provide electricity to every household will be accelerated. In education, 45 Porta Cabin schools will be converted into permanent buildings. For youth, 15 stadiums and 2 multipurpose halls will be constructed, while healthcare services will be strengthened through expansion of primary health centres and construction of transit hostels for doctors.
In agriculture and irrigation, two major projects at Deurgaon and Matnar on the Indravati River have been approved, which will provide irrigation facilities to 31,840 hectares of land. These projects will play a key role in strengthening Bastar’s agricultural economy.
To enhance livelihoods and income, the government has prepared a three-year plan aiming to increase the monthly income of 85% of families from ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 by 2029. Under the ‘Niyad Nella Nar 2.0’ scheme, more districts are being included, expanding the reach of development. Initially launched in 10 districts, the scheme is now being extended to 7 additional districts and 3 new districts—Gariaband, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai.
Under ‘Anjor Vision 2047’ and ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, a startup policy has also been implemented with a target of creating 5,000 startups by 2030.
In tourism, efforts are being intensified to establish Bastar’s identity globally. Projects such as development of Chitrakote and Tirathgarh waterfalls, Kanger Valley National Park, adventure tourism, canopy walk and glass bridge are underway. Events like Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum are giving the region a new identity. More than one lakh youth have been provided skill training, out of which 40,000 have secured employment.
For the development of Naxalism-free Bastar, the Chief Minister also highlighted the ‘Bastar Munne’ (Leading Bastar) programme. Under this initiative, camps will be organized in every Gram Panchayat where officials will ensure direct delivery of government schemes, creation of necessary documents, and on-the-spot resolution of public grievances.
During the Prime Minister’s proposed visit, key projects planned for inauguration and foundation laying include the Rowghat-Jagdalpur railway line, expansion of Jagdalpur Airport, a super-speciality hospital, a medical college in Dantewada, and education cities in Jagargunda and Orchha. These initiatives will take Bastar to new heights in education, healthcare and connectivity.
