Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Lays Foundation Stone for Development Works at Yerwada
Pune : Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar laid the foundation stone for various development projects at Yerwada. This includes the reconstruction of separate male and female buildings at the Regional Psychiatric Hospital. The groundbreaking ceremony also marked the commencement of construction for two central buildings.
During the event, notable attendees included MLA Sunil Tingre, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Prashant Naranware, Jamabandi Commissioner and Director of Land Records Sachindra Pratap Singh, Collector Dr. Suhas, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department Atul Chavan, Superintending Engineer Bappa Bahir, Executive Engineer Surendra Katkar, District Women and Child Development Officer Monica Randhave, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Electricity Department Sheetal Kumar Mundhe, and Superintendent of the Regional Psychiatric Hospital Sunil Patil.
The new building at the Regional Psychiatric Hospital will cover 23,229 sq.m. and will include nine rooms for men and women, one family room, separate rooms for male and female accused, a laundry, a nurse’s room, and a mortuary. It will have a total of 1,029 beds. The project has received an administrative sanction of Rs. 131 crore 74 lakh and will be modeled after the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Bengaluru.
The central building, designated as Building No. 2, will span 22,500 sq.m. and consist of ten stories based on green building concepts. It will feature parking for 218 four-wheelers and 1,309 two-wheelers. This construction, with an administrative approval of Rs. 96 crore 38 lakh, will house state and district level offices, potentially reducing annual rent costs and alleviating traffic congestion in the central part of the city.
Additionally, the Jamabandi Commissioner and Director Land Records Office will cover 18,503 sq.m. and include an administrative building, the Jamabandi Commissioner’s residence, and a rest house for officers and employees. This project has been sanctioned Rs. 78 crore 67 lakh.
Before the ceremony, Shri Pawar reviewed the construction of the Mahila and Bal Vikas Bhavan at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra. He advised that space in the area be fully utilized and suggested preparing multiple conceptual drawings from different architects to ensure high-quality outcomes.
