State-Level Celebration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 135th Birth Anniversary in Rajasthan

Jaipur, April 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the state government is committed to ensuring that the light of development reaches the backward, deprived, and the last person in society, while improving their quality of life. He stated that the double-engine government is working on the principles of social justice envisioned by B. R. Ambedkar, guided by the mantra of inclusive growth and collective effort. The government, he said, is striving to empower all sections of society socially, economically, and politically, while fulfilling Babasaheb’s vision. He also called upon youth to adopt Ambedkar’s ideals and actively contribute to nation-building.
Major Announcements and Benefits by the Chief Minister
On the occasion, the Chief Minister transferred ₹1,363 crore to beneficiaries of pension and Palanhar schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). He inaugurated 10 hostel buildings, laid the foundation stones for 17 others, and virtually inaugurated a library at the Swyamsiddha campus in Jamdoli. He also launched an AI-based “Help Desk Samadhan Saathi.”
Financial assistance was distributed to beneficiaries under the Kanyadaan scheme, and assistive devices were provided to persons with disabilities. Meritorious students under the Chief Minister Anuprati Coaching Scheme were also honored. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of 200 Ambedkar e-libraries in urban areas and an Ambedkar Residential Coaching Centre at Ambedkar Peeth in Moondla, Jaipur.
Addressing the state-level programme held in Jaipur to mark Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary, Sharma said that Babasaheb’s teachings and vision form the core of the government’s functioning. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, welfare schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat are benefiting the backward and underprivileged sections the most.
Holistic Development of Marginalised Communities
The Chief Minister highlighted that cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have reduced by over 28 percent under the current government. Under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Castes, ₹292 crore has been spent to support 3.75 lakh students. Similarly, ₹534 crore has benefited 3.21 lakh students under the Scheduled Tribe Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, while 1.62 lakh students have been supported under the scheme for Extremely Backward Classes.
He also noted that more than 2,500 beneficiaries have received loans under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Rajasthan Dalit-Adivasi Enterprise Promotion Scheme.
Commitment to Social Security and Antyodaya
Sharma said the government has set a benchmark in implementing social security schemes with a focus on Antyodaya (upliftment of the last person). Rajasthan is leading in the Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Development Campaign and is at the forefront nationally in providing basic facilities under the PM-Janman scheme. The government has also increased social security pensions to ₹1,450. Transparent recruitment processes have ensured timely examinations, benefiting a large number of youth from reserved categories.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot said that under the Chief Minister’s leadership, the state government is realizing Ambedkar’s vision for the welfare and upliftment of backward and deprived communities. He added that social security schemes have become a strong foundation for inclusive development.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited an exhibition showcasing rare photographs based on the life journey of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and distributed assistive devices to specially-abled individuals.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, several ministers, MPs, MLAs, senior officials, and a large number of citizens.
