Global-Standard Higher Education Opportunities Through Educity and Medicity: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Review meeting on Educity and Medicity held at Sahyadri State Guest House

Mumbai, April 2026 : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that Maharashtra’s students will gain access to world-class higher education opportunities through the proposed Educity and Medicity projects. With several globally renowned universities expressing interest in setting up campuses in the state, he has directed concerned departments to ensure timely availability of land for these projects.

The directions were issued during a review meeting on Educity and Medicity held at Sahyadri State Guest House. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Venu Gopal Reddy, CIDCO Managing Director Vijay Singhal, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Lokesh Chandra, and Principal Secretary Dr. Shrikar Pardeshi.

Fadnavis stated that the initiative will enable students in Maharashtra to access high-quality education from globally reputed universities within the state itself. He noted that many leading international universities have shown keen interest in establishing campuses, and instructed authorities to expedite the process to facilitate their entry.

Project plans underway

The Educity and Medicity projects are planned near the Navi Mumbai International Airport. CIDCO officials informed that the process has already begun, with land acquisition underway for the project. A detailed plan for the Medicity project has also been prepared.

Boost to startups and research

Officials highlighted that several leading global universities are expanding their presence in India and Maharashtra. These developments are expected to significantly enhance access to quality higher education across multiple disciplines. Additionally, the projects are likely to foster innovation, increase the number of startups, and boost research activities across sectors through collaboration with international institutions.

The initiative is seen as a major step toward transforming Maharashtra into a global hub for education, healthcare, and research.
