Maharashtra State Child Rights Protection Commission Always Supports Students Facing Adversity – Adv. Susieben Shah
Pune : The Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights will always support students who overcome adverse circumstances and achieve success, asserted Adv. Susieben Shah.
She was speaking at a felicitation ceremony for meritorious students who had passed the 10th and 12th grades from Children’s Homes and Observation Homes in the Pune Division. The event was organized at the Anna Bhau Sathe Auditorium, Yerwada, in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development and the Hope for Children Foundation. Present at the event were Women and Child Development Commissioner Dr. Prashant Naranvare, Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Mane, Member of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Adv. Sanjay Singhal, Chaitanya Purandare, Adv. Dr. Jayashree Palve, Founder of the Hope for Children Foundation Caroline Audoire de Coulter, and others.
Adv. Shah encouraged the students to embrace determination, perseverance, and hard work to progress in the 21st century. She emphasized the importance of staying active, continuing to read, and participating in sports to strengthen both mind and body. She urged the students to use their knowledge to help those facing adversity and to keep studying to build their dignity and self-confidence.
“Work in such a way that your contributions aid in the progress of the country and in creating a better society,” she said. “If you encounter any problems, discuss them with the Superintendent of the Children’s Home or Observation Home. The Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights stands firmly behind you.”
Dr. Naranvare highlighted the Commission’s ongoing efforts to work with the Department of Women and Child Development in the best interest of children. He noted that over 1.25 lakh beneficiaries have been supported under the childcare scheme in a year. To help students succeed in the information and technology era, computerized laboratories (digital labs) have been set up in cities like Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, and Palghar. He also mentioned that orphans have been granted 1% reservation, enabling 273 students to secure government jobs.
He announced the establishment of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports Center at Prabodhini, Ulhasnagar, where students from Children’s Homes and Observation Homes will receive guidance on recruitment processes for fire fighters, police constables, and other roles. An app is also being developed to provide information on various government schemes. Dr. Naranvare assured that the Department of Women and Child Development will continue to raise the standard of living for these students through various initiatives, including the Chief Minister’s Work Training Scheme.
Mr. Purandare emphasized the Commission’s efforts to create conscious citizens and prevent adverse situations. Adv. Palve added that the government system is like a lamp, providing light, and encouraged everyone to continue progressing by utilizing this light.
Dr. Caroline Audoire de Coulter also shared her thoughts, while Mr. Mane introduced the program.
