Anger In Lebanon Over Talks As Israel Continues To Occupy Territory.

Beirut; April 2026: Residents of 55 villages are not allowed to return to their homes. What the Israeli army is trying to establish is the so-called “yellow line” similar to what it did in Gaza. It claims this is for security reasons, but in reality, it is an occupation zone. Over the past few days, since the ceasefire took effect, more towns and villages have been demolished and levelled to the ground.

Bint Jbeil, one of the largest towns in the south with a population of 30,000, has been completely demolished, with videos showing that nothing is left, and the streets are unrecognisable. This destruction is continuing in the south of the country.

The ceasefire is on its fourth day. It is a temporary truce, fragile to say the least, and it has not addressed core issues such as Israel’s occupation of Lebanese territory and its right to carry out strikes anywhere against perceived security threats. There is anger prevailing at the Lebanese government for agreeing to hold these talks while Israel occupies Lebanese territory.

The Israeli military has warned people in southern Lebanon not to move south of a specified line of villages or approach areas near the Litani River, saying its forces remain deployed in the area. The villages are Beit Siyad Farm, Majdal Zun, Zabqin, Yatar, Sarbin, Hula, Beit Yahun, Shaqra, Majdal Salm, Qabriqa, Farun, Zutr al-Gharbiyya, Yahmar al-Shaqif, Arnun, Deir Mimas, Marjayoun, Aabbel al-Saqi, Al-Mari, Kfar Shouba, Ain Qana and Ain Atta.

Military spokesperson Avichay Adraee also urged civilians not to return to dozens of border villages in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese armed group has claimed responsibility for a series of explosions that it said hit a convoy of eight Israeli armoured vehicles moving from the town of Taybeh towards the town of Deir Siryan on Sunday. It said the explosive devices were “planted beforehand” by its fighters. The explosions, in two waves between 15:40 hours and 16:40 hours local time, “destroyed 04 Merkava tanks”, it said.
