MP Cabinet Approves ₹26,800 Cr for Development Projects

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav chaired the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday at the Mantralaya. The Council of Ministers approved major development projects worth over ₹26,800 crore aimed at holistic development and public welfare in the state. In a significant step toward strengthening infrastructure, ₹26,311 crore has been sanctioned for various construction and renovation projects of the Public Works Department over the next five years (2026–2031). Prioritising social justice and education, the Cabinet approved a historic increase in scholarships for Other Backwards Class (OBC) students, from ₹1,550 to ₹10,000 per month. Key financial provisions were also made for rural irrigation through the Lakhundar Micro Irrigation Project and for the electrification of 38,901 Anganwadi centres. Revised administrative approvals were granted for expanding medical colleges in Bhopal and Rewa, strengthening healthcare infrastructure to meet future needs. The meeting commenced with the rendition of Vande Mataram.

Approval of ₹155.82 Cr for Lakhundar High-Pressure Micro Irrigation Project

The Cabinet approved ₹155.82 crore for the Lakhundar High-Pressure Micro Irrigation Project in Shajapur district. The project will provide irrigation to 9,200 hectares of land across 24 villages, 17 in Shajapur Tehsil and 7 in Tarana Tehsil of Ujjain district. Water will be drawn from an existing reservoir near Maksi on the Lakhundar River to provide enhanced irrigation and boost agricultural productivity in the region.

Approved ₹26,311 Cr for Public Works and Infrastructure Development

The Cabinet approved approximately ₹26,311 crore for Public Works Department schemes for the period from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031. These include road renewal, office establishment and maintenance, housing upkeep, and land acquisition compensation.  The Cabinet approved ₹6,180.57 crore for headquarters, divisional and maintenance works, ₹6,925 crore for Central Road Infrastructure Fund-related projects, ₹1,680 crore for maintenance of higher-category government residential and non-residential buildings, ₹6,500 crore for land acquisition compensation, ₹25.50 crore for grants to the Indian Roads Congress and decree payments, and ₹5,000 crore for renewal of major district roads and other road networks.

Amendment in OBC Student Hostel Scheme: Scholarship Increased

The Cabinet approved amendments to the OBC Student Hostel Scheme (2005) for students from Madhya Pradesh studying in higher educational institutions in Delhi.

Under the revised scheme, 100 new students will benefit annually (50 undergraduate and 50 postgraduate), while existing beneficiaries will continue to receive support until completion of their courses. The monthly scholarship increased from ₹1,550 to ₹10,000. Eligibility requires students to qualify for post-matric scholarships and fall within the prescribed income limits.

Revised Approval of ₹79.16 Cr  for PG Seat Expansion at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal

To expand quality medical education and tertiary healthcare, the Cabinet granted revised administrative approval of ₹79.16 crore under the PG seat expansion scheme. The project includes construction of key facilities such as a Radiotherapy OPD, LINAC bunker, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, and Cath Lab, along with post-facto approval of ₹14.08 crore.

Revised Approval of ₹174.80 Cr for Expansion of Super Specialty Hospital at Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa

The Cabinet approved a revised administrative sanction of ₹174.80 crore for the expansion of the Super Speciality Hospital at Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa, strengthening advanced healthcare services in the region.

₹80.41 Crore Approved for Electrification of 38,901 Anganwadi Buildings

The Cabinet approved ₹80.41 crore for the electrification of 38,901 Anganwadi buildings under the Women and Child Development Department for the period 2026–27 to 2030–31. Out of the state’s 97,882 Anganwadi centres, those currently without electricity will be provided with power connections. This will enable effective use of lighting, fans, coolers, smart TVs, and water purifiers, thereby improving service delivery and early childhood education in a better environment. The plan includes electrification of 38,814 departmental buildings, 69 Anganwadis under the Dharti Aaba scheme, and 18 buildings constructed through district mineral funds.
