Haryana model of governance’ for Punjab if BJP comes to power- Chief Minister
Punjab Dhanak community meets CM, extends support to BJP ahead of Assembly polls
Chandigarh, April 2026 — Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday said Punjab would receive Haryana-style good governance if the BJP comes to power, asserting that deprived sections would be provided all facilities, including plots, houses, education, scholarships and healthcare, on the same lines of what Haryana is giving.
The Chief Minister said this while meeting a delegation of the Dhanak community from various districts of Punjab at his residence, ‘Sant Kabir Kutir’, on late Wednesday evening. On the request of the delegation, he also accepted an invitation to attend a function to be organised by the Deprived Scheduled Caste (DSC) community in Punjab on June 30 to mark Sant Kabir Das’s birth anniversary. Sh. Madan Lal Khatak, OSD to the Chief Minister, Sh. Bharat Bhushan Bharti, Sh. Mahender Singh and other dignitaries also remained present on the occasion.
Sh. Satish Khundia, president of the Dhanak community in Punjab, apprised the Chief Minister of the issues faced by the community, stating that educated youth are not getting employment. He said that while 34 out of 117 Assembly seats and 4 out of 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab are associated with the DSC community, their participation in politics remains negligible. He added that while the DSC community has made significant progress in Haryana, its condition in Punjab remains poor.
Responding to this, the Chief Minister said that he understands the pain of the community, adding that whether it was the Congress or the present Aam Aadmi Party government, neither had focused on Punjab’s real development. He said these parties had only ruled over people and never served them. He remarked that the present Chief Minister is “nothing more than a comedian” and added that Arvind Kejriwal’s record in Delhi and Punjab is well known, alleging that everything had been “drained out” there.
The Chief Minister said the AAP had formed the government in Punjab by showing false promises, but its reality is now before the people. Drawing a comparison, the Chief Minister said Haryana had faced similar conditions about 11-and-a-half years ago, but the BJP government improved the situation with strong resolve. He said that soon after coming to power, the government recruited 5,500 personnel in the police department, including 605 from the DSC community.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that Congress had announced 100-square-yard plots but neither provided documents nor possession, however the present government ensured that beneficiaries received both ownership papers and possession. In addition, applications were invited through a portal and 16,500 families were separately allotted 100-square-yard plots. These were then linked to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, houses were constructed on these plots and keys were handed over to eligible families, he said.
The Chief Minister said that in the past 10 years, 27.5 lakh people in Haryana have received free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, for which the State government has paid Rs. 4,000 crore to hospitals. He added that today, children from poor and labourer families are being selected for jobs up to the HCS level on the basis of merit.
He said children from deprived sections are being provided free education and scholarships, while girls are given free education up to the postgraduate level and free bus travel. He added that colleges for girls are available within a radius of 20 km across Haryana.
AAP is making Tall claims, but now people know their reality
The Chief Minister said that while tall claims are being made in Punjab, there is little work on the ground, adding that the government has neither been able to control drug abuse nor provide employment to youth. He said change in Punjab can only be brought by its people, and the upcoming elections present a golden opportunity. He said that only when people work towards change will the future of the coming generations improve.
The delegation assured the Chief Minister that in the upcoming Punjab elections, the entire community would not only support the BJP but also work day and night to ensure the victory of its candidates.
