Gujarat Titans Beat RCB by 4 Wickets with 25 Balls to Spare; Gill–Buttler Firepower and Tewatia Finish Seal Dominant Win

Ahmedabad, April 2026 : Gujarat Titans produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 4 wickets in a high-intensity IPL 2026 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday. The Titans chased down a target of 158 runs in just 15.5 overs, winning with 25 balls remaining and further strengthening their position on the points table.

After winning the toss, Gujarat Titans opted to bowl first and executed their plans effectively, restricting RCB to a modest total of 157 runs. The bowlers maintained consistent pressure throughout the innings, not allowing the opposition batters to build long partnerships.

In response, GT began their chase aggressively. Openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided a brisk start, though Sudharsan was dismissed early for 6 runs. Skipper Shubman Gill then took charge, playing a blistering knock of 43 runs off just 18 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes. Jos Buttler supported him in explosive fashion, scoring 39 runs from 19 deliveries with 2 fours and 4 massive sixes. At the end of the powerplay, Gujarat Titans were comfortably placed at 69/1, firmly in control of the chase.

However, RCB made a strong comeback through veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who turned the game momentarily with a superb spell. He removed both Gill and Buttler, finishing with impressive figures of 3/28 in 4 overs. His breakthroughs slowed GT’s momentum and brought RCB back into the contest.

The pressure increased further when Romario Shepherd struck twice, dismissing Shahrukh Khan (8) and Washington Sundar (12), reducing GT to 92/3 and briefly reviving RCB’s hopes.

Despite the middle-order setbacks, Gujarat Titans held their nerve. Rahul Tewatia once again proved his reputation as a reliable finisher under pressure. He played an unbeaten knock of 27 off 17 balls, guiding the chase calmly. Jason Holder (12) provided valuable support before Rashid Khan (7*) helped complete the formalities.

GT eventually reached the target in 15.5 overs, sealing a comfortable victory and showcasing their depth in both batting and finishing ability.

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout performer, while Romario Shepherd chipped in with two wickets. However, Josh Hazlewood endured a difficult outing, conceding 56 runs in his four overs without success.

Score Summary:

  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 157 all out (20 overs)
  • Gujarat Titans: 158/6 (15.5 overs)
  • Result: Gujarat Titans won by 4 wickets (25 balls remaining)

With this emphatic win, Gujarat Titans continue to underline their status as one of the most balanced and consistent sides in IPL 2026.
