CM Dhami Pulls Up Officials Over Poor Preparation, Sets June 15 Deadline for Pending Announcements

Dehradun, May 4: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday expressed strong displeasure over officials attending a high-level review meeting without adequate preparation, warning that such negligence would not be tolerated in future. The meeting, held at the Secretariat, focused on reviewing the progress of Chief Minister’s announcements across the state.

Taking a firm stand, Dhami said that the implementation of government announcements is of the highest priority and officials must come fully prepared with factual data and updates. He also criticised the lack of coordination among departments, stating that poor communication was causing unnecessary delays in development works.

The Chief Minister directed all departments to submit detailed reports on the status of announcements, including how many have been completed and how many remain pending. He set a strict deadline of June 15 for issuing government orders on all pending announcements and instructed that work on approved projects must begin immediately without delays.

He further warned that delays at any level would not be tolerated and instructed that another review meeting be conducted before June 15 to assess progress. Dhami also expressed concern over instances where foundation plaques had not been installed at project sites despite work commencing, holding District Magistrates accountable for such lapses.

Highlighting administrative inefficiencies, the Chief Minister criticised the tendency to escalate district-level issues to the state unnecessarily, directing officials to resolve matters at the appropriate level promptly.

The meeting also included a detailed review of development projects in the Assembly constituencies of Salt, Ranikhet, Someshwar, and Jageshwar in Almora district. Dhami stressed that all promises made to the public must be implemented on the ground within stipulated timelines.

In Someshwar, progress on 90 announcements was reviewed, with several already underway. The Chief Minister directed faster action in sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, healthcare, education, energy, and agriculture. In Salt constituency, out of 69 announcements, many have been initiated, and officials were asked to expedite pending works in tourism, rural development, and infrastructure.

Reviewing 33 announcements in Ranikhet, Dhami said projects related to roads, tourism, and basic amenities would play a key role in regional development and must be completed on priority. Similarly, in Jageshwar, where 48 announcements were reviewed, he emphasised the need to accelerate projects related to tourism, culture, education, and religious infrastructure, given the area’s significance.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to balanced development, the Chief Minister said that efforts are being made to ensure that development reaches even the most remote areas of the state. He added that regular reviews are aimed at ensuring timely delivery of benefits to citizens.

Senior officials, including Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, and district magistrates, were present at the meeting.
